The Staff Accountant II will be responsible for responsible for playing an integral role in preparing accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements. The Staff Accountant will develop subject matter expertise in specific areas to which he/she is assigned and will be responsible for providing analysis and support for assigned operating areas.

Responsibilities
Summary
The Staff Accountant II will be responsible for responsible for playing an integral role in preparing accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements. The Staff Accountant will develop subject matter expertise in specific areas to which he/she is assigned and will be responsible for providing analysis and support for assigned operating areas.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Supports management during internal and external audit reviews
- Obtains clarification of policy whenever necessary and may use the resources available through the Compliance, Human Resources or Legal Department to do so
- Prepares and Posts complex and adjusting journal entries monthly
- Updates existing internal control processes and company’s policies and procedures
- Provides support to management on assigned revenue and/or operating expense accounts and proposes suggestions to identify and implement process improvements
- Assists with special projects as assigned
- Assists in the research and implementation of accounting policies and procedures
- Issues and compiles quarterly requirements and accrual requests from various accounting units
- Support and abide by the values of the company
- Supports management in streamlining the month-end close process through process improvements and automation
- Prepares standard and recurring monthly journal entries
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Reads and abides by the company’s code of conduct, ethics statements, employee handbook(s), policies and procedures and other corporate mandates, including participation in mandatory training programs
- Analyzes month-end account variances analysis
- Reports any real or suspected violation of the corporate compliance program, company policies and procedures, harassment or other prohibited activities in accordance with the reporting policies of the company
- Documentation of supporting schedules and analysis for quarterly and year-end deliverables

- Possesses a strong understanding of GAAP and the ability to apply the concepts to specific situations

- Must be able to handle multiple projects, changing priorities and a demanding, time-sensitive work load
- Works independently and with minimal supervision, meeting deadlines and properly planning his/her work
- Possesses strong analytical and organizational skills
- Uses creative approaches to challenges and is solutions-oriented
- Uncompromising personal integrity, as well as a high level of respect for all individuals
- Bachelor's Degree from four-year College or University and 2 or more years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of:
- Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, Word and Outlook
- Lawson, or other general ledger software used by large companies .
