RemX is proud to represent Government organization seeking for an Accounting Clerk to assist their Finance Department on a contract basis. IMMEDIATE HIRE


Accounting Clerk Responsibilities


  • Preparing and reconciling monthly balances of various trust accounts following statutory guidelines.
  • Preparing daily grand totals; securing and preparing bank deposit bags for armored car pickup.
  • Verifying and reconciling daily activity logs and reports from various locations.
  • Preparing Excel spreadsheets allocating deposit amounts to the correct fund disbursement codes; for example criminal fines, traffic fines, civil fees, and various other trust and agency accounts.
  • Balancing and reconciling vendor charges and financial accounts.
  • Providing detailed financial reports and statements to the Assistant Chief Financial Officer for review and approval.
  • Compiling financial and audit data and preparing statistical reports.
  • Posting to financial records, examining financial records, and reconciling financial accounts, including payroll and agency fund accounts.
  • Preparing daily, weekly or monthly cash requirements from appropriate bank accounts to process payments to vendors, the state, the county, and other municipalities.
  • Preparing daily, weekly or monthly account balances, reconcilements, and adjustments to various trust and agency fund accounts.
  • Preparing daily deposits to the correct bank accounts.
  • Verifying paperwork; preparing preliminary cash requirements from the appropriate bank accounts; updating appropriate electronic files and financial systems; and distributing checks accordingly.
  • Verifying documents supporting cash and surety bonds, foreclosure deposits, court ordered restitution payments, locates partial payments or deferred payments from both the criminal and civil divisions, and opens or updates electronic records for each payment.
  • Receiving paperwork authorizing payments and refunds from various operating divisions.
  • Preparing monthly and quarterly reconciliations for county and state agencies as required by law.
  • Receiving, verifying, and receipting daily cash and checks transmitted from various operational divisions to the finance division.
  • Accurately and timely filing all supporting documents on receipts and disbursements in accordance with audit and statutory guidelines.
  • Verifying and reconciling daily bank transactions from various financial accounts.
  • Preparing invoices for payments from various funds.


Accounting Clerk Knowledge, Skills And Abilities


  • Ability to understand and follow detailed oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to timely be at work each day as scheduled.
  • Ability to quickly and accurately perform financial calculations and tabulations.
  • Knowledge of the basic principles and practices of bookkeeping and accounting.
  • Ability to apply bookkeeping principles to the maintenance of standard fiscal and accounting records.
  • High School Diploma, supplemented by course work in bookkeeping.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to meet specific deadlines.
  • Ability to present information clearly and concisely in oral and written form.
