Job Description

Description

  • Communicate needs, concerns, etc. clearly and quickly
  • Preferred 1-3 years of experience as a biller/coder, preferably in mental health.
  • Competitive pay will vary based on training and experience and is paid as an independent contractor.
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills
  • This is a 1099 Independent Contractor position. There is room for growth and added responsibilities for the right candidate.

  • Willingness to take on new tasks as needed as the business grows.
  • Demonstrate self motivation and initiative
  • Self starter & Ability to manage own schedule
  • Must possess excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Able to collaborate and work professionally with a team
  • Excellent attention to detail & ability to keep track of multiple pieces of information

  • Appeal medical insurance claims in a timely manner
  • Investigate unpaid claims within standard billing cycle timeframe
  • Reviewing patient bills for accuracy, completeness, and obtaining any missing information
  • Ensure compliance with procedures
  • Insurance verification - benefits and eligibility
  • Manage receivables, accounts payable, payroll and maintain financial records
  • Keep up-to-date with changes in medical and insurance legislation
  • Manage patient accounts
  • Maintains detailed knowledge of insurance denials and trends in the industry
  • Maintains detailed knowledge of practice management, electronic health record and other computer software as it relates to job functions
  • Discuss insurance billing/insurance questions with clients
  • Reviewing each insurance payment for accuracy and compliance with contract discount
  • Preparing, evaluating and transmitting claims via electronic and paper claim processing
  • Maintains patient confidentiality; complies with HIPAA and compliance guidelines established by the practice


Qualifications:

  • Mental Health EHR system experience preferred, If you have experience with Kareo, that's a plus!
  • Customer-oriented communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
  • Knowledge of behavioral health billing preferred, but willing to train the right candidate!
  • Hands-on experience with medical software and MS Office
  • Familiarity with mental health guidelines and insurance legislation is a plus!
  • Knowledge of modifiers
  • Proven work experience as a biller/coder, new grads will also be considered if shown willingness to learn!


Salary

$15 - $18 per hour
