Job Description

Job Title: Behavioral Health Specialist (LCSW, LPC, LMFT- including those under supervision)

Employment Type: Full Time

Starting Salary $50,000 per year

Summary:

Corazon San Antonio is seekinga compassionate and dedicated behavioralhealth specialist to join our Clinical Team. Theywill provideessential services, including group counseling sessions, individual counseling sessions, and case management. This position requires a commitment to serving our vulnerable community with empathy and professionalism.The position is open to: LCSW, LPC, LMFT or those under supervision for these licenses.

About Corazon Ministries:

Corazon San Antonio is a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering holistic development in mind, body, spirit, creativity, and community. The Corazon Resource Hubiscomposed of threeservice locations: Day Center, Harm Reduction Center, and Corazon Clinic. The Clinical Team operatesin each. The Corazon Clinic offers primary healthcare access and dermatology services free of charge to the community. The Day Center offersa range of programs, including daily hot meals, clothing, personal hygiene products, warm showers, ID recovery, case management, and connection tohealthcare orresidential services. TheHarm Reduction Center offerssyringe exchange, overdose prevention and response education, Naloxone distribution, and improved access to medical, behavioral, treatment, and social services. We deliver harm reduction services through our drop-in center and street-based distributionwith the goal to mitigate the risks associated with substance use and other activities of the most vulnerable in the San Antonio community.

9am – 3 pm Monday through Thursday

9am – 1 pmFriday

4pm – 8 pm Wednesday

8am – 12 pm Sunday

An ideal candidate will be...

• Available for theservice hours at our downtown locations.

• Knowledgeable of best practices for serving a consumer population that is chronically homeless and are high utilizers of emergency services.

• Flexible in the structure of their schedule to best meet the needs of consumers that are often not consistent with appointments.

• Able to engage with therapeutic services consumers that are often minimally educated, easily distracted, and frequentlystruggling with a situational crisis.

Responsibilities:

- Coordinate and facilitategroup sessions for clients, including pre- and post-surveys of participants.

- Deliver evidence-based one-on-one counseling sessions with clients.

- Collect and report data on daily accomplishments, tasks completed, and participant documentation.

- Maintainprofessional and positive relationships with clients, participants, and staff.

- Promptly communicate any safety concerns to the supervisor and team.

- Utilizelanguage consistent with harm reduction principles and a strength-based approach to support participants in achieving their full potential.

- Implement person-centered support services to help participants develop personalized, goal-oriented action plans.

- Serve as a resource broker, linking participants requiring additionaldirection to appropriate referrals.

- Respond to critical situations with high-level engagement and de-escalation skills, ensuring a safe and healing environment for all.

Qualifications:

- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) under clinical supervision.Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) or those under clinical supervision.

- Valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License.

- Availability and willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.

- Strong mental resilience to handle complex, highly emotional, and stressful situations.

- Excellent interpersonal skills, actively listening and offering solutions without passing judgment.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Lived experience with substance use disorder and/or homelessness.

- Bilingual in Spanish/English.

- 2+ years of experience working with the houselesscommunity.

- Some experience withAssertive Community Treatment orSupportive Housing interventions.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

- Knowledge of HCV/HIV/pathogens and infectious diseases, substance use disorder, and Harm Reduction models and best practices.

- Proficient in motivational interviewing techniques.

- Familiarity with Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and HMIS.

- Understanding of the social, cultural, and economic makeup of the service area, with a willingness to work with diverse populations.

- Knowledge of community resources, federal/state/local assistanceprograms, housing and utility assistance, and disability benefits.

- Familiarity with substance use disorder recovery pathways, medication-assisted treatment, community resources, and 12-step recovery.

- Ability to engage and motivate participants effectively.

- Client and mission-centered approach.

- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.

- Excellent oral and written communication
