We are a growing team that makes an impact on patients every day as we provide intensive and comprehensive individualized mental healthcare in an inpatient setting for adults 55 years and older struggling with psychiatric, emotional, or behavioral disorders.

Lakewood Health System is in beautiful north central MN, 25 miles from the Brainerd Lakes area and 120 miles from Minneapolis/St. Paul.
Our Licensed Practical Nurses are required to:
- Maintain certification in CPR on a bi-annual basis.
- Be an accredited nursing school graduate with a current Minnesota LPN license.
A Day in the Life of a Lakewood Reflections Licensed Practical Nurse
- Protect patients and employees by adhering to safety standards; infection-control policies and protocols; medication administration and storage procedures; and controlled substance regulations
- Perform treatment intervention following physician orders
- Observe patients to report and record symptoms or changes appropriately
- Conduct therapies, and administer medications and treatments following the patients diagnosis and needs
- Attend to patients personal needs (oral hygiene, toileting, bathing, dressing, etc.) as required
- Maintain continuity among nursing teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs
- As needed, and using approved methods, assist in safely placing patients in seclusion or restraints; observe suicide/seclusion precautions; including physical requirements for physical holds and safe transport of patients
- Establish a compassionate environment by providing emotional and psychological support to patients, families, and friends
- Assist with ambulating and lifting patients as needed
- Assure quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards, measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and regulatory standards
- Complete all required documentation relevant to patients promptly and efficiently.
Other Thoughts
- LPNs work in close contact with patients who have moderate to severe psychiatric concerns and behavioral issues. There is the possibility that LPNs could be exposed to violent behavior from patients and behavioral problems as part of their daily duties.
- This position in a health care facility is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Rotating shifts, holidays, and work during inclement weather will be required.
