Accepting and managing welder qualifications in accordance with ASME Section IX, AWS D1.1, and company specifications

Performing other assigned duties as determined by the Engineering Branch Manager.

Individual must meet nuclear requirements for Unescorted Plant Access.

The ability to obtain an AWS-CWI Certification within two years

Shall have at least five years of related engineering experience.

Working knowledge of ASME Section IX and AWS D1.1 welding codes.

Manage installation, qualification and ramp-up of manufacturing equipment including but not limited to laser welding systems.

BS/MS/PhD Degree in Mechanical / Mechatronics Engineering or 6+ years relevant experience

Experience with SolidWorks or other 3D CAD software

Experience working with different laser welding tools , materials and vision systems

Strong hands-on experience with high-volume and pilot manufacturing

Develop laser weld processes and qualify them using statistically valid data sets and workflow

Evaluate and record results of welder qualification tests.

Manage Quality Control and Inspection personnel and their activities.

Must have excellent computer skills and the ability to work collaboratively with others.

Preferred to be a Certified Welding Inspector CWI or equivalent certification may apply.

5+ years of experience in welding engineering

Experience designing fixtures, and or tools needed in developing manufacturing processes.

Budget management and cost control experience

Broad knowledge and experience in welding processes and weld tooling with proven successful application

Experience working with Enterprise Product Delivery Process (EPDP)

Prior experience in RFQ preparation and tooling specification development

Solid written and oral communication skills

Experience in successfully applying the principles of Weld Design For Manufacturing

Knowledge and understanding of applicable ASME & PED code requirements

Develop and maintain welding and fabrication processes, documentation, and certification/training for factory

Conduct cost / benefit analysis for changes to processes and/or equipment

Minimum of 2 years of experience in welding process development

Ability to manage priorities and achieve results

Prior exposure to and knowledge of Lean Manufacturing

Experience in quality control related activities and the ability to obtain internal auditor certification

Good verbal and written communication skills to clearly communicate project quality requirements and findings to customers, suppliers and within TEi

Computer experience with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio or equivalent process flow software

Knowledge and experience in technical writing

Review project specific customer specification and identify welding requirements and materials of construction.

Document review for inclusion of special customer requirements into the Manufacturing and Inspection Test Plan (MITP).

Specify, configure, and operate equipment to test remote laser welding.

Manage the design and build of fixturing necessary for laboratory testing.

Develop joining processes to meet product performance requirements.

Manage design, construction and installation of new laser joining systems in assembly plant or metal center.

Knowledge of sheet metal welding and joining processes

Strong interpersonal skills involving ability to work effectively cross-functionally and cross-culturally.

Knowledge and experience with welding/joining processes

Bachelor of Science in Engineering in welding, metallurgical, chemical, electrical, mechanical, or equivalent experience

5+ years of experience in welding laser technologies

Deep knowledge in laser technologies (welding, cutting, ablation, etc.)

Knowledge of battery cell manufacturing processes preferred

Technical expert on welding technologies

Directly support the APQP / product launch management process.

Travel requirements ~ 50% (Domestic – 70% / International – 30%)

Complete engineering releases for new or revised Ignition Products to include process specifications, tooling and tool charts.

Develop and revise Process FMEA’s.

Maintain current process standards and develop new standards for emerging process technology.

Develop and Implement projects to enhance existing process technology to improve quality and reduce manufacturing cost.

Test faulty equipment, apply knowledge of functional operation of electronic devices to diagnose the cause of malfunctions, and repair problems.

Install, repair and train customers on CNC Cutting Machine Products.

Write technical reports describing malfunctions and deviations from design specifications

Perform preventative/corrective maintenance on customer’s machines.

Make timely travel arrangements to accommodate customer’s needs.

Able to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional & technical journals, and governmental regulations.

Training experience preferred, preferably at the college or industry certification level.

Assures the quality delivery of technical skills training.

Effective verbal and written communication skills

Trainer for non-credit welding training programs, both on campus and at satellite sites.

Works with the Manufacturing Partners to determine their technical training needs.

Alerts college staff of needed repairs of welding lab equipment.

Ability to proactively collect, manage and transfer knowledge

Bachelors or Masters degree in Welding Engineering, or equivalent degree with direct experience in Welding Engineering

1+ years experience in welding engineering

Expert knowledge of the subject of welding engineering as it relates to heavy manufacturing applications.

Experience with welding (manual and ideally machine welding) and Non-Destructive Examination techniques required

Experience with Nuclear Regulations, Codes & Standards preferred

Working knowledge of heat treatment practices and requirements for various materials.

Lead development and qualification of new procedures, processes, and personnel.

Hands-on experience with GTAW, SMAW, GMAW and SAW welding processes.

PC skills including Outlook, Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint
