Job Description

We are seeking a logical and results-focused Welding Quality Engineer- Attachments to join the Hensley Team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with Environmental, Safety, and Health teams to ensure that we are meeting local and federal health and safety regulations with the welding processes/equipment we develop.
  • Maintain, Control, Organize, and coordinate QMS tasks to meet Hensley’s objectives.
  • Evaluate and record results of welder qualification tests.
  • C onduct and Supervise inspections and testing of welded subassemblies and structures to ensure conformance to welding specification and guarantee the highest quality of our products.
  • Coordinate, organize, and otherwise control the quality assurance activities at Hensley Attachments, including the Nonconforming Material Report and Corrective Action systems.
  • Key person for internal and external audits at the Attachments Division
  • Document and report outsource receiving inspection issues to the Outsourcing department.
  • Investigate and resolve internal manufacturing quality issues.
  • Review and approve outsource supplier inspection reports for mining buckets to ship.
  • Implement immediate corrective action when reviews or studies reveal that operational or test practice(s) deviate from agreed procedure(s).
  • Plan for and suggest ideas for the optimum utilization of equipment, personnel, and supplies to achieve departmental objectives in the most cost-effective manner possible.
  • Monthly reporting of internal and outsource product inspection results and internal quality ratings.
  • Must have excellent computer skills and the ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Maintain knowledge of, support, administer and ensure compliance with all company policies including those that are stated in the Human Resources Policy Manual, Safety Policy Handbook, Employee Handbook, Quality Assurance Manual, Standard Operating Procedures, etc.
  • Must have the ability to identify root causes of specific welding and or fabrication problems and to initiate corrective actions. Proactively identifies risk mitigation opportunities and process involvements.
  • Work in conjunction with the Purchasing Manager to produce and maintain an Approved Suppliers List for products and services for distribution at Hensley Attachments.
  • Qualify welding procedures and maintain Hensley’s internal welding specification.
  • Manage Quality Control and Inspection personnel and their activities.

Must know and comply with the Komatsu Worldwide Code of Business Conduct, KAC code of Conduct, Hensley Environment Policies, Hensley Safety Policies, and Hensley Quality Policies.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Preferred to be a Certified Welding Inspector CWI or equivalent certification may apply.
  • Experience with Six Sigma or any other statistical analysis techniques.
  • Experience carrying a product from a concept all the way through development and into production.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical information clearly.
  • 5+ years of experience in welding engineering
  • BS in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, or Engineering technology discipline or equivalent
  • Experience with Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFMA).
  • Familiarity with industry safety standards and regulations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with teams located around the world.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and meticulous attention to detail. Ability to break down ambiguous issues into clearly defined problems/goals and an actionable plan.
  • Experience applying statistical methods to experimentation.
  • Experience designing fixtures, and or tools needed in developing manufacturing processes.
