Summary
In this role of Plant Welding Process Engineer you will demonstrate leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for all joining (welding and brazing) operations for the factory. In this role you will utilize your experience or expertise to manage the plant welding program, solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.Essential Responsibilities
- Support Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) projects
- Maintain corresponding Welding Engineering Project budget.
- Other Duties as assigned
- Develop and enforce Weld Procedure Specifications (WPS) for new processes
- Support the quality function through integration of International Organization for Standardization (ISO) / Quality Center (QC) documentation and Joining Process Instructions
- Identify and reduce product quality issues caused by process variation
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring for welding engineers throughout the manufacturing plant
- Conduct cost / benefit analysis for changes to processes and/or equipment
- Support Root Cause Analyses for joining-related defects
- Manage performance of the direct reports to achieve organizational goals and encourage an atmosphere of engagement and encourages learning/self-growth. Initiates employee reviews, employee-counseling, and can carry out all Corporate Policy initiatives.
- Develop and maintain welding and fabrication processes, documentation, and certification/training for factory
- Support equipment upgrades from purchase through installation
- Drive process Improvement, cycle reduction, and productivity improvements via process changes or improvements
- Develops constructive cross-functional partnerships with all internal customers as well as suppliers to drive strong communication between groups for effective operations.
- Serve as a technical process expert for complex welding & joining processes across multiple products using a hands-on approach to resolve problems
- Mastery over quality control & problem-solving techniques for welded and fabricated components, knowledge of key failure modes for all joining processes, problem diagnosis and resolution, standards and tolerances for each process
- Lead New Technology Initiatives (NTI) and share best practices with other locations
Qualifications / Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in welding process development
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college in engineering (OR a High School Diploma / GED from an accredited school or institution and minimum of 4 years of welding engineering experience with a Certified Welding Inspector Certificate)

- Prior exposure to and knowledge of Lean Manufacturing
