Completes required continuing education as needed in order to maintain ARDMS certification.

Certification in BCLS within 6 months of hire - Required.

Assists physicians in advanced sonographic procedures such as biopsies, amniocentesis, and similar activities.

Coordinates procedures with nursing units, referring offices, and within the Radiology department.

Interviews patients and records medical history relative to ultrasound examinations.

Identifies, accesses, and prepares medications as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.

Position: Central Processing Technician I

Demonstrates knowledge and skills to perform all functions of all information desks and periodically rotates desk assignment.

Requires two years of work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Requires completion of a high school education (diploma or GED).

Requires knowledge of telephone techniques.

Answers telephones and greets patients and visitors in a professional manner.

Locates admitted patients in the computer system and provides their visitors with passes.

Utilizes technical training and acquires in-depth knowledge of the LIS and its functions.

Manages time appropriately and meets BMC standards for attendance and punctuality.

One year of Phlebotomy, and/or specimen processing experience required.

Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills; strong attention to detail, organizational ability and follow-through.

Performs venipunctures according to laboratory policies and procedures including the collection of timed specimens, blood cultures, pediatric and neonatal specimens.

Centrifuges and aliquots specimens, and follows all special handling instructions according to laboratory policies and procedures.
