Perform advanced assays requiring precise analytical skills and understanding of biological and chemical principles

Experience in a molecular biology laboratory preferred.

Experience with Sanger sequencing and/or Next Generation sequencing preferred

The essential requirements of the job include:

Act as primary analyst for routine and non-routine sequencing projects, including reaction preparation, analysis, and reporting

Support readiness of the sequencing lab through equipment maintenance, buffer preparation, materials planning and requests

Support other groups or as designated by Management team by providing insights and performing investigatory studies

Manage the lifecycle of each procedure by monitoring performance characteristics

Identify new techniques and instrumentation to expand internal capabilities. Prepare justification for new lab equipment.

M.S. in molecular biology, biochemistry, or microbiology or related field is required. Education in computational biology or bioinformatics is preferred.

Perform NGS testing, including library preparation, data analysis, result reporting

Provide training to Analysts for newly developed methods

Excellent time management and organizational skills, collaborative nature, and good verbal and written communication skills.

At least 4 years of interdisciplinary research experience in molecular or cellular biology techniques in academic or biopharmaceutical research environment.

Experience in the use of NGS assays applied to immunology, cardiovascular diseases, cancer biology, neuroscience, and/or cell therapy research is desired.

Experience in the culture and manipulation of cell lines, iPSCs and iPSC-derived cells, primary cells and/or PDO models is desired.

Experience in automation of NGS assays, experimental design considerations, and familiarity with downstream bioinformatics approaches is preferred.

Design and execute Genomics experiments to elucidate biological mechanisms in normal and disease state, identify therapeutic targets, and validate biomarker hypotheses.

The position requires leading research independently, preparing publications, and presenting research in scientific meetings.

Willingness to work closely with collaborators and lab members.

Contributing to lab-wide chores towards a productive and positive lab.

A track record of research productivity and independence.

Strong project management and organizational skills and ability to prioritize and multitask.

Knowledge of R or Python and experience with the analysis of next-generation sequencing data.

Proven experience in molecular biology laboratory techniques.

Experience with next-generation sequencing workflows.

B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in biology, cell biology, bioengineering, biochemistry, or related discipline. Preferred prior industry experience.

2+ year track record of lab experience.

Evidence of product management experience and examples of delivering impact through engineering teams, preferably at consumer-facing technology companies.

Engage with Quest developers and product managers to identify sequencing platform needs.

Clearly communicate product plans, benefits, and results, drawing the line from platform iteration to Quest goals.

Experience with platform development or internal tooling is an advantage.

Strong interpersonal skills, and sensitivity to the needs of a geographically-distributed team.

Partner closely with engineering, machine learning, analytics, and design teams to regularly ship sequencing improvements.

Collaborate with Regulatory Compliance to ensure qualifications, preventative maintenance, repairs, and cleaning processes are performed on all laboratory equipment.

Assist with the validation and requalification of laboratory equipment.

6 or more years’ experience in Molecular or Microbiology laboratory.

Previous experience managing a large group to include senior individual contributors and supervisors.

Other: Working knowledge of the quality system.

Significant previous experience in genomics, transcriptomics, and/or proteomics, including secondary analysis pipelines

Significant experience with essential molecular biology concepts and methods such as PCR, purification, gel electrophoresis

Demonstrated experience collaborating with colleagues and partners across a range of technical backgrounds and levels of expertise

Experience with current and next-generation genome engineering and sequencing technologies, including high dimensional, multimodal and/or multiomic cell characterization methods

Experience with current and next-generation automation systems, bioinformatics, and/or machine learning as related to biology

At least 2 years of direct wet lab experience with NGS library preparation protocols and preliminary data analysis.

Hands-on experience with molecular biology methods such as nucleic acid extraction, reverse transcription, PCR, and qPCR/ddPCR analyses.

Perform data entry and peer review for accuracy in accordance with laboratory procedures.

Knowledge of basic laboratory practices required and QC testing methods preferred.

Experience with Sanger sequencing method preferred.

The essential requirements of the job include:

Independently perform sequencing assay according to established standard operating procedures, including primer design, plate set-up, and sequencing result analysis

Use Codon Code Aligner, Snap Gene, and Primer Premier software to complete daily tasks

BS/MS in a relevant field of biological sciences and a minimum of 2+ years of experience

Experience with RNA and/or DNA extraction from animal tissues.

Experience with PCR and/or qPCR.

Experience with DNA and RNA extraction from filamentous fungi and bacteria is a plus.

Experience with qPCR assay and primer design is a plus.

Coordinate with external research organizations and animal facilities to empower Ginkgo’s development of the next generation of therapeutics.
