Job Description
The Personalization team makes deciding what to play next easier and more enjoyable for every listener. From Blend to Discover Weekly, we’re behind some of Spotify’s most-loved features. We built them by understanding the world of music and podcasts better than anyone else. Join us and you’ll keep millions of users listening by making great recommendations to each and every one of them. We ask that our team members be physically located in Central European time or Eastern Standard/Daylight time zones for the purposes of our collaboration hours.

Mixer, in Personalization, optimizes Spotify sessions to grow revenue. We partner closely with the Listening Experiences team (LEX) to make every personalized session more enjoyable for the listener. Our Track Sequencer represents the last mile of personalization in Spotify’s industry-leading programmed playlists and is a critical component of our platform. The Track Sequencer combines business logic with our knowledge of each listener to produce the ideal order of tracks in a playlist. We’re looking for a Product Manager to deeply understand the needs of our users and our business, who can interpret and evangelize the criticality of this squad’s work to our company goals, and who can accelerate our platform efforts.

What you'll do

  • Work collaboratively with the team and partners to develop a roadmap and a coherent product backlog that supports it. Continuously maintain, prioritize, and iterate on this backlog.
  • Clearly communicate product plans, benefits, and results, drawing the line from platform iteration to Quest goals.
  • Partner closely with engineering, machine learning, analytics, and design teams to regularly ship sequencing improvements.
  • Engage with Quest developers and product managers to identify sequencing platform needs.
  • Define, supervise, and analyze metrics for launched products, and feed takeaways back into the development process.

Who you are

  • Strong interpersonal skills, and sensitivity to the needs of a geographically-distributed team.
  • A proven ability to translate strong user empathy into something tangible that people love.
  • Comfort driving projects from start to finish, with a predictable cadence and involving multiple partners from diverse subject areas.
  • A passion for the audio space and cultural equity & impact.
  • A belief that data is a powerful tool for informed decision-making.
  • Familiarity with iterative development principles and practices, including breaking large product goals into small, achievable slices for early and frequent delivery.
  • Experience with platform development or internal tooling is an advantage.
  • Evidence of product management experience and examples of delivering impact through engineering teams, preferably at consumer-facing technology companies.

Where you'll be

  • Prefer an office to work from home instead? Not a problem! We have plenty of options for your working preferences. Find more information about our Work From Anywhere options here.
  • We are a distributed workforce enabling our band members to find a work mode that is best for them!
  • Working hours? We operate within the Eastern Standard time zone for collaboration and ask that all be located in that time zone.
  • Where in the world? For this role, it can be within the Americas region in which we have a work location and is within working hours: https://lifeatspotify.com/locations

The United States base range for this position is $112,298 - $160,425, plus equity. The benefits available for this position include health insurance, six month paid parental leave, 401(k) retirement plan, monthly meal allowance, 23 paid days off, 13 paid flexible holidays. These ranges may be modified in the future.
