Optical Technician Level I Jobs

No prior experience required, this is an entry level position.

1 year of simulator related experience in (electronics/avionics, automated systems, or computer networking repair and troubleshooting)

Knowledge of analog and digital theory

Scheduling appointments, check patients in and out, verify vision benefits

Speaking with patients on the phone

Greeting patients and verify their medical history

Pre-test patients before they see the doctor

Assist patients in selecting eyeglass frames that will suit their presecription and eyecare needs

Preferred past optical experience or optician license

Minimum 2 years of experience in an optical setting

Optical alignment and test experience desired

Experience using standard hand tools – allen wrenches, screw drivers, torque wrenches, etc.

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a progressive manufacturing industry is preferred

Assemble opto-mechanical assemblies by using assembly drawings and assembly procedures

Work with assembly and inspection tools such as torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers, height gages, and dial indicators

Align and test optical systems using interferometry, alignment telescope, and optical inspection devices.

Knowledge of fiber optic systems, free space optics, lensing systems, and laser systems

Experience working on an optical bench

Experience in coding using python, C/C++,C#, LabView, or other programming languages

Work with the Development Engineering Team to assemble micro-optical assemblies

Conduct and record optical testing data including:

Ensures the Help Desk maintains a high level of customer service. Trains and mentors Help Desk Analysts.

Maintains documentation of work history of personal computers and equipment.

Typically has the following skills or abilities:

Responsible for all levels of coating, including hard coating and vacuum coating, maintaining the vacuum chamber

May perform the following duties depending on assigned function:

Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor/management

Follow instructions and procedures precisely while offering suggestions for continuous improvement

Math skills (adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing)

Experience in optical manufacturing and/or any manufacturing environment; experience in optical coating, metrology, disposition, cleaning, fabrication a plus

Skilled in reading, comprehending, interpreting, and executing detailed instructions, short correspondence (e.g., e-mails, texts, instant messaging)

Skilled in writing simple, informational, and technical correspondence

Analyze data using basic math skills.

Experience inspecting and cleaning delicate optical components

Experience operating optical measurement equipment, including interferometers and spectrophotometers, profilometers, scatterometers, lens alignment equipment, and measuring microscopes.

Optical lab, optical assembly, optical test setup, and optical alignment aptitude and experience.

Experience working in cleanroom environments.

Excellent collaboration skills and demonstrated ability to work with many different disciplines.

Skills are acquired through hands on experience and training under the supervision of qualified Personnel

No specific formal education is required. Formal training in optical courses or basic sciences i.e. physics would be beneficial.

Ability to read, write English and have clear communication skills.
