Bachelor's degree and proven experience (4-6 years) working with local, domestic, and international media and successfully landing stories

Excellent writing and verbal communications skills

Experience dealing with crisis situations

Keeping abreast of higher education's issues and trends, as well as global and national current events and campus activities

Experience serving as a spokesperson and driving media relations strategy and execution.

Experience and willingness to pick up the phone and proactively/reactively work complex stories with top tier media.

Lead proactive and reactive communications initiative, and work with reporters to understand and analyze incoming media relations inquiries.

Develop talking points, FAQs and briefs to address critical topics and issues.

Lead the development and execution of proactive, reputation building media engagements and campaigns.

Established reporter relationships and desire to expand network to relevant industry and company beat reporters.

Must Haves: Media pitching experience, must be local (within a one hour commute), and a strong writer

Nice to Haves: Analytics/meltwater experience, strong media contacts, science-writing or healthcare background

· Manages reactive requests from local and national media inquiring for expert perspectives on various stories.

§ Proven ability to develop and manage strategic communication plans with multiple projects and deadlines.

Onsite address will vary, but will be Boston based.

· Reports to the Director of External Communications and Media Relations

Strong project management and time management skills with an ability to lead several projects at once

Develop and maintain relationship and reputation management strategies with key press

Establish and manage press engagement strategy and best practices

Significant and proven experience in press communication and strategies

Expert knowledge of client and graphic technology and the ability to build a narrative highlighting technological innovation

Expert knowledge of orchestrating relationship between owned, earned and paid media

Any combination of experience that would likely provide the required knowledge is qualifying:

High School Diploma or higher level of education.

Previous work experience in Media Relations.

A minimum of 15 years of experience, including integrated communications, media relations, journalism, editorial writing, or related areas

Experience working with subject matter and translating technical content into digestible communications for broad audiences

Demonstrated 15+ years of professional experience in public relations, content creation or public affairs

Provide strategic direction to ExxonMobil business lines, leadership and corporate funcations on media relations

Superior writing and editing skills, requiring little line editing

4+ years of experience in media relations, journalism, or related communication roles

Agency experience desirable, particularly in dealing with media strategy

Financial communications experience helpful, though not required
