Junior Construction Inspector Jobs

10+ years performing construction inspection and management in related fields of expertise

Knowledge of principles, practices, techniques, and terminology of inspection and civil engineering

Knowledge of surveying and construction methods, materials testing and equipment

Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) required, Prolog, Primavera, etc. desired

Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or NICET Certification, and experience with highway and/or bridge construction as follows:

Experience with NYSDOT SiteManager reporting software a plus for DOT projects.

Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and any special requirements

Operational knowledge of field inspection equipment

Good oral and written communication skills

Level II Inspector : minimum of two years’ related experience.

Confer, communicate, and speak with property owners regarding project schedule, hazards and inconvenience; demonstrate strong project knowledge and excellent customer service.

Coordinate work with other City departments and utilities; process, submit, and deliver timely contractor payments.

Schedule service interruption with least interference and least inconvenience to properties.

Prepare as built plans for completed projects.

Perform other duties as assigned.

An advanced-level degree from an accredited US college or university.

Experience with Prolog Construction Management software is preferred.

Bachelors’ degree in Construction Management or Engineering of related industry is preferred but not required.

Must have experience with highway or bridge construction.

Must have excellent communication and problem-solving skills

OSHA 10 Hour Certification is required.

DEQ Dual Inspector; Bridge and Roadway Construction certification is preferred.

Associate's degree program in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field required

NICET level II certification is strongly preferred

1+ years of professional construction inspection experience, including experience with work zone traffic control

Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills in English

Experience and familiarity with New York State Department of Transportation projects

OSHA 10 training certification, minimum

Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications and any special requirements

Operational knowledge of field inspection equipment

Good oral and written communication skills

LA DOTD Certification (Structural, PCCP, or Embankments)

OSHA 10-hour Construction Safety training

Possess and maintain proficiency in the knowledge of building codes and references related to construction of facilities and surrounding site work.

Ability to read and understand requirements described on construction drawings.

Monitor construction submittals utilizing a submittal status log to ensure proper format, delivery order, and schedule requirements are met.

3+ years of applicable experience on construction projects

Army Corp of Engineering (USACE), National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) or other federal project construction experience is preferred.

Provide inspection and surveillance of construction, operations, maintenance, and repair activities to ensure the work is in accordance with contract documents.

At least three (3) years of experience using construction management software systems.

At least 10 years of experience in construction inspection of civil infrastructure projects such as paving & wharf construction.

A baccalaureate degree in engineering or experience as a millwright or similar trade is desired.

We are seeking an experienced construction inspector to provide inspection on paving and wharf construction.

A minimum of 7 years of demonstrable experience in construction engineering and inspection and testing for large infrastructure projects;

A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in facilities rehabilitation;

Observe work operations for compliance with applicable safety regulations;

Observe and recognize unsafe practices, and where appropriate, request their correction by the contractors’ on-site representative;

Monitor contractors’ actual progress against scheduled progress and record on Daily Inspection Reports;

Record contractors’ job-site equipment and manpower;

Communicate effectively with the Contractors, Owners, Construction Manager, or other field engineering staff

Photograph project conditions, field verify construction materials delivered to jobsite, coordinate materials sampling and testing requirements, document as-constructed plan sheets

A minimum of 3 years of construction inspection experience working on roadway, bridge, and highway projects

Basic computer skills in Word and Excel

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Excellent skills in working independently

Minimum Education, Experience, And Licenses

Preference given to related construction/inspections certifications (American Concrete Institute, TEEX, APWA, Etc.)

Must have mathematical skills in calculating grades, volumes, and areas.

Must have, organizational, and communicative skills.

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a working knowledge of Windows software.

Maintains a centralized project management scheduling system for all construction projects.

A bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, or related field

Four years of progressively responsible experience in building inspection or construction.

Skill in using a computer and modern office suite software.

Certification as a Commercial Building Inspector from the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD).

A high school diploma or a Certificate of General Educational Development (GED).

Strong time management and attention to detail.

Strong PC Skills, in Microsoft Office.

Knowledge of NJDOT road specifications.

Able to read contract documents and construction plans.

Responsible for field construction observation monitoring/tracking of construction sequencing, cost, scheduling and performance decisions.

Assure that proper document control, quality assurance documentation and construction project records are kept.

15+ years of relevant civil/structural inspection and construction management experience on highway construction projects

4-Year engineering or construction management degree and 0-3 years of Construction related experience OR

No degree and a minimum of 5 years of construction related experience in a field applicable to the work assignment

Traffic Control Supervisor (TCS) certification
