Child Welfare Residential Case Aide Jobs in Kings, New York

ENTRY LEVEL QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Experience: 1-2 years of experience working in related field preferred.

First Aid/CPR Certification- and Food Handler’s Certification required or needs to be obtained in first 60 days of employment.

F-02 or F80 Fire Safety Coordinator certification, required (or ability to obtain certification within 60 days of employment)

Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in English required. Multi-lingual and Spanish proficiency prioritized.

High School Diploma with prior experience in a child welfare setting.

Must demonstrate strong organizational and computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Word and Outlook.

Establish immediate communication with the child's school of origin to assure minimal disruption to education.

Attend case specific parent/teachers school conferences and other education related conferences

Assist in obtaining report cards and individual educational plans from DOE

Attend educational forums at New York City Children's services or any other institution

Provide case management support and coordinate community referrals.

Assist Case Managers with providing ongoing education and support services to foster parents.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date information on children in care in accordance with ORR and internal documentation standards and reporting requirements.

Assist Case Managers in maintaining client contact for case follow-up or intervention, as requested.

Attend internal and external training and apply newly gained knowledge in providing services.

Attend home visits with the case manager as needed.

Assist case management with discharges.

High School Diploma or GED and at least one year of work experience.

The RA oversees adherence to the residence’s operating policies and procedures and Quarantine/Isolation Disclaimer

The RA works with the client’s clinical and program staff to help optimize the health and wellness of residents.

Conduct periodic facility walk-throughs during a shift.

Ensure clients are feed three meals a day including snacks.

Reporting and documentation of incidents, crisis intervention, communicating with On-call management team

Use company vehicle to transport residents to and from appointments in the community and as directed by program management

Experience CPR and First Aid certifications a plus

High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) required or equivalent experience

Two to four years related experience

Monitoring of residents; making hourly rounds with security wand, and maintaining a safe, stable housing environment

Good communication skills both verbally and written including the ability to communicate with all levels of management.

Excellent internal, external customer service skills and strong interpersonal skills.

Willingness to work at multiple sites as needed, work occasional overtime and offer flexibility with regard to scheduling work time.

Ensures the safety, security and integrity of all residents and guests, as well as the physical environment of the facility.

Conduct periodic facility walk-throughs during a shift.

Assist in monthly fire Drills, and ensure all residents are out of the facility.

Incident management: Report and document incidents, crisis interventions, communicate with on-call management team

Use company vehicle to transport clients to and from appointments in the community and as directed by program management

Two to four years of related experience

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED), Associates degree preferred

CPR and First Aid certifications a plus

Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness and/or mental health or substance use issues is a plus

Reporting and documentation of incidents, crisis intervention , communicating with On-call management team

Use company vehicle to transport residents to and from appointments in the community and as directed by program management

Experience CPR and First Aid certifications a plus

Two to four years related experience

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED), Associates degree preferred

Experience working with homeless population and with Veterans helpful

Experience working with population service in congregate setting

Knowledge of AWARDS, Word, Excel, and Outlook

Basic knowledge of human services

Monitor participants’ movement to and from the facility and document accordingly

Conduct facility runs to ensure security, safety and program standards are maintained

Collect finger images utilizing the HRA STARS operating device

** Salary is based on commensurate experience and other qualifications.

Additional certifications or training in a relevant field is a plus

Previous experience working in a supportive living or residential care setting is required

Active First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain within first 30 days of hire

Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with residents, families, and team members

Basic knowledge of personal care techniques and familiarity with principles of infection control

Process HEAP applications for the over-60 and disabled populations

Coordinate HEAP services with weatherization services

Trouble-shoot cases with DSS HEAP, other agencies, vendors and/or county departments

Proficient with MS Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel).

Part time 21 hours per week

Seasonal position September 1st - March 31st

1-year experience working with families and children required

Experience working in a busy human services office- strongly preferred

Strong skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Gmail applications

Provide transportation of the unaccompanied children in our program to medical and legal appointments, hearings, and other social services

Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in English required. Multi-lingual and Spanish proficiency prioritized.

Maintains visibility to residents by wearing Safety Monitor vest and ID badge and inspects site through regular tours of the property.

Screens all clients and visitors to the facility.

Enforces and educates clients on CHI, site and DSS policies, regulations, and rules with residents.

Reviews video cameras and monitors area consistently.

Maintains appropriate documentation accurately throughout shift , i.e., turn-over, census, logs, incident reports, case notes, etc.

Physical Requirements: read/write reports and log entries, walking/standing for prolonged periods, bending/stooping, kneeling/squatting, climbing stairs, reaching overhead, repetitive wrist/finger movements, driving

May implement internal data management and reporting systems as well as maintains records on employees and compliance activities.

Utilizes data management and reporting systems

May provide reports with detailed analysis of workforce levels, critical skill set needs and projections.

May include coordinating data entry required for statistical reports and shelter metrics for accuracy and completeness

1 year of office experience

Must have the ability to resolve unforeseen problems with little or no direction from manager.

Full Performance Knowledges, Skills, abilities, and Personal Characteristics:

Complete intake procedures with all students attending GED Test Prep programs based on NYSED requirements.

Attend required trainings for Case Manager and similar programs and stay current with credentials as a Financial Aide Specialist.

Perform exit interviews with GED participants and help the students with planning for the future.

Work with adult students in person, classroom settings and via phone and email

Communicate job opportunities to students periodically during the program but especially near the end of the program.

Partake in educational training to enhance skills related to job function

Performs various other tasks and responsibilities (i.e. facilitate morning/evening focus group

1-year work experience in residential treatment or similar setting

Ability to provide crisis intervention utilizing good interpersonal skills with a high level of maturity and responsibility

Basic knowledge of human services

Provide direct crisis intervention to clients and prepares incident reports of such interventions
