Housing Works fights for funding and legislation to ensure that all people living with HIV/AIDS have access to quality housing, healthcare, HIV prevention, and treatment, among other lifesaving services.

This position is included in a bargaining unit of Housing Works’ New York City employees represented by a labor union known as the Retail Wholesale and Department Store Union (“RWDSU”). Accordingly, the RWDSU has the exclusive right to bargain over the terms and conditions of employment related to this position and this position may become covered by the terms of a collective bargaining agreement (a “CBA”) between Housing Works and the RWDSU
Compensation Range: $17/hr
Overview: The Residential Aide (RA) ensures the well-being of the clients, helps promote their safety and security during his/her shifts. The RA provides crisis intervention as needed to maintain residential and facility security. The RA works in shifts of 8am to 4pm, 4pm to 12am, and 12am-8am. The schedule operates 7 days a week, and all holidays as needed.
Responsibilities:

  • Assist case management with discharges.
  • Communicate with supervisor regarding calls outs, request for PTO and any emergencies.
  • The RA oversees adherence to the residence’s operating policies and procedures and Quarantine/Isolation Disclaimer
  • Provide COVID-19 screening (i.e. temperature checks) to all visitors, staff, and clients who enter the hotels.
  • Escort clients to and from their rooms and perform hourly wellness checks.
  • Light custodial work consisting of cleaning tables, chairs, minor spills, and removal of trash.
  • Maintain excellent customer service and confidentiality at all times.
  • Ensure clients are feed three meals a day including snacks.
  • The RA works with the client’s clinical and program staff to help optimize the health and wellness of residents.
  • Conduct periodic facility walk-throughs during a shift.
Minimum Requirements
  • Certificate of Fitness to operate a Fire Panel.
  • Must use PPE provided by Housing Works during your shift throughout the course of the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • High School Diploma or GED and at least one year of work experience.
