Overview A Child Protective Investigator (CPI) is a professional who investigates cases of child abuse and neglect. They are responsible for conducting interviews, gathering evidence, and making recommendations to the court regarding the safety of the child. CPIs also provide support to families and work with other professionals to ensure the best possible outcome for the child. Detailed Job Description The primary responsibility of a Child Protective Investigator is to investigate cases of child abuse and neglect. This includes conducting interviews with the child, family members, and other professionals, gathering evidence, and making recommendations to the court regarding the safety of the child. CPIs must also provide support to families and work with other professionals to ensure the best possible outcome for the child. Job Skills Required• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Job Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or a related field
• Master’s degree in social work, psychology, or a related field preferred
• Licensure or certification in social work or psychology preferred
• Previous experience working with children and families in a social service setting
• Knowledge of child welfare laws and regulations
• Ability to pass a background check
