Alcohol and Other Drug Specialists are responsible for providing comprehensive assessment, treatment, and recovery services to individuals with substance use disorders. They assess the individual’s needs and develop individualized treatment plans. They provide individual and group counseling, as well as education and support to individuals and their families. They also provide referrals to appropriate resources and coordinate care with other providers.What is Alcohol And Other Drug Specialist Job Skills Required?
• Knowledge of substance use disorders and their treatment
• Ability to assess and diagnose substance use disorders
• Knowledge of evidence-based treatment approaches
• Ability to develop individualized treatment plans
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work with diverse populations
• Knowledge of community resources
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
What is Alcohol And Other Drug Specialist Job Qualifications?
• Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field
• Master’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field preferred
• Certification as an Alcohol and Other Drug Specialist (CADS)
• Licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) preferred
• Experience working with individuals with substance use disorders
