Job Description
  • Thorough skills collecting and disseminating data to support programming needs.
  • Bachelor's Degree in youth development, community education, education, recreation or related area or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Oversee required data tracking and evaluation for youth programs.
  • Identify and evaluate the needs of students in regards to youth programs; make program recommendations to address needs.
  • Ability to make arithmetic computations using whole numbers, fractions and decimals.
  • Experience in facilitating groups with multiple stakeholders with diverse needs; addressing complex topics.
  • Thorough skills operating standard office equipment and related hardware and software.
  • Proficient in use of various types of assessments to inform decision making.
  • Experience training and leading staff.
  • Monitor program budgets; work with the Community Education Director and program leadership to develop annual program budgets.
  • Provide direct and indirect coordination services to students, staff and families in the area of youth programs, including (but not limited to) Community School, Summer STEAM, Falcons After School, Little Falcons, Faribault Youth Center, Enrichment and other areas as needed.
  • Provide consultation and support to students navigating educational opportunities best suited to their success.
  • Thorough skill creating, analyzing and interpreting standard correspondence.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school officials, teachers, students and families.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Ability to compute rates, ratios and percentages.
  • Create and maintain various promotional materials for distribution and marketing of youth programs into the community.
  • Highly organized, with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Relationship-driven in working with staff, students and families.
  • Demonstrates exceptional skill in the roles of youth development, including as a collaborator, action researcher, reflective practitioner, and youth advocate.
  • Experience working in a school setting is preferred, but not required.
  • Provide leadership, consultation and collaboration with teachers of students with youth program-related concerns; serve on various teams; attend meetings as a member of the district, provide training as needed.
  • Continually supervise students and staff to ensure safe, non-threatening and nurturing environments where all can thrive.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve District, building, departmental and/or grade-level goals; provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
  • Train staff on youth programs, youth development, and best practices as needed.
  • Generate program funding by securing grants, assisting with fundraising, and facilitating funds.
  • Help lead district efforts to increase the number of Faribault middle- and high-school age youth participating in extracurricular activities, in line with the district’s Achievement & Integration goals
  • Experience in developing and sustaining collaborative relationships with representatives of multiple education and community partners.
  • Serve as a liaison as needed to develop and promote partnership opportunities in youth program experiences; serve on district committees representing youth programs.
  • Ability to express ideas effectively both orally and in writing.
