Job Summary


II.


The primary objective of the Youth Program Coordinator is to assist the Director of Youth Programs in the development and implementation of programming, services and initiatives for youth and young adults. The Youth Program Coordinator is responsible for recruiting, coaching, and case management services for youth program participants as well as assisting with project reporting/evaluation and other administrative tasks to ensure compliance with agency/funder guidelines; and maintaining effective, outcomes-driven relationships with diverse stakeholders (participants, funders, community-based partners, etc.) to promote the delivery of holistic participant services and project guidance at Emerge.


III. Core Job Functions


The Youth Programs Coordinator performs a wide range of duties including but not limited to the following:


Recruit, hire, lead and support a diverse team of qualified, competent staff by providing effective training & supervision that encourages continued professional development and ensures delivery of quality services to participants and continuous progress toward meeting program and agency goals.


Lead and facilitate the design and implementation of youth team projects including educational pathways and job readiness programming, coordinate schedules and supervise day-to-day activities of all youth program staff and youth interns.


Lead outreach efforts to recruit and enroll youth participants, conduct intake and assessments and assist youth in developing goals and objectives for their Individual Service Strategy (ISS) plans.


Track and document program activities by completing follow-ups, entering case notes and maintaining case files in the database in accordance to funder and agency guidelines, taking photos and recording audio and video records as appropriate, and communicating regularly with the Director to report on status of program activities and outcomes.


Serve as the face of the Youth Program to positively represent the program/organization to develop and maintain strong relationships with all project stakeholders including participants and their families, staff, community members/organizations, employer partners, and funders.


Assist the Director of Youth Programs and Senior Vice President with the preparation of yearly budgets and managing monthly/quarterly invoices and other reports as assigned to ensure that expenses do not exceed revenues while collecting 100% on contracts.


Monitor program effectiveness through data and evaluation, including internship and employment site evaluations which involve youth, site supervisors and parent feedback, and make adjustments accordingly. Ensure that funder reports are accurate, completed and submitted per funder deadlines.


Perform any other tasks and duties necessary in order for the agency to meet its mission.

IV. Position Requirements


Education and Experience


  • Minimum of two (2) years case management, employment, job development, facilitating workshops, and vocational counseling experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in human services, education, social services, counseling or related field preferred or equivalent combination of post-secondary education and relevant work experience.
  • Experience working with at-risk youth.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience working with youth or running youth programs
  • GCDF certification preferred.


Skills, Knowledge And Abilities


  • Ability to travel between multiple agency locations.
  • Knowledge of and interest in the food system and social justice issues
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize, organize, problem solve and exercise good judgement with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of database systems, Client Track preferred
  • Ability to assess situations to determine the importance, urgency and risks, and make clear decisions which are timely and in the best interests of the organization.
  • Ability to facilitate effective meetings, group workshops, orientations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences using appropriate and effective communication tools and techniques.
  • Valid MN Drivers’ License, access to reliable, insured transportation, and the ability to meet agency’s driving requirements including proof of insurance.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with others, both internally and externally, to achieve the goals of the organization.
  • Ability to relate to young people AND keep appropriate professional boundaries
  • Demonstrated skills in Microsoft Office 365, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work youth friendly hours, including evenings and weekends
  • Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with agency managers and leaders to set goals, resolve problems, and make decisions that enhance organizational effectiveness.
  • Ability to work effectively in a mission-driven agency whose clients and staff reflect significant diversity with respect to race, ethnicity, gender, orientation, socio-economic status, nationality and religion.


Working Conditions And Environment

Incumbent will have a private office/designated workspace in a typical office environment. The building is multiple floors and fully accessible and is smoke-free. Work will include regular local travel. Working hours are generally Monday through Friday, 8 am-5:00 pm, but will include regular evening and weekend hours. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, sometimes loud.
