SUMMARY
This position coordinates the daily processing of Repack product, ensuring volunteer effectiveness in the evaluating, sorting and packaging of salvage product for distribution. Performance of the following duties is done personally.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. This list is not all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Remove any damaged or leaking cases from inventory and following the procedures for properly deducting the item(s) from the inventory management system.
- Maintain high standards of warehouse sanitation and safety at all times.
- Prepares work area for arrival of volunteer groups. This may include use of a tow motor, reach truck, power pallet jack and hand jack. Conveys materials and items from production areas to storage or to other designated areas.
- Accurately pull inventory and oversee volunteer production various kits.
- Receives donations from individual donors and fills out the proper donation receipt paperwork and provides a copy to the donor. Provides excellent customer service to all donors.
- Assess daily that dangerous conditions are removed prior to an accident or injury occurring (i.e., water spill clean-up, etc.).
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of salvage room and provide support to Warehouse Repack Associates in this regard.
- Orients, motivates and monitors volunteers and ensures that the volunteer experience is pleasurable yielding effective production of finished product. Educates the volunteers on the mission of the Food Bank.
- If needed, this position would be responsible for assisting other departments within the warehouse as necessary (ie receiving, outbound order processing, perishable sorting).
- Implements Repack projects, directed by the Production Supervisor and supervises the work production of the volunteers and staff. The projects are completed based on supply and demand of product and the type and size of the group to be working.
- Receives salvage and Food Drive product from various Big Box donors and correctly logs product received. Labels all product to identify items by date, type of product and total pounds received.
- Manages supplies necessary for sorting of product, requesting products from Supervisor, in a timely manner to the production schedule.
- Timely reporting of product poundage processed and distributed by volunteers and staff.
- Accurately scan and put away finished product.
- Maintains required job knowledge and skills and core professional competencies, including attending and participating in required educational programs and staff meetings.
- Communicates with staff regarding the Repack projects and the production plan.
- Inspects the work of the volunteers to assure that quality control standards are being honored and applied. Ensures that all salvage guidelines are being met.
- Unloads the weekly Giant Eagle truck(s) in a timely manner ensuring that all product is weighed and labeled correctly. Puts product away in the racks in an orderly fashion.
- Inspect the operating equipment to assure that it is in good working order.
- Fills out the daily sanitation sheet each day to confirm that all sanitation tasks are completed.
- Notifies supervisor in a timely fashion of the presence of pest problems. Keeps Salvage area clean at all times, ensuring that all spills are cleaned up in a timely manner.
- Provides housekeeping services for the building, as directed, or needed/necessary, to maintain the highest level of cleanliness and pest control.
- Decides if product is appropriate for production and disposes of salvage product that is unusable by repack production and keeps a log of the disposal. Forwards this scrap log to supervisor as needed or requested.
- Training of volunteers and staff to maximize evaluating, sorting and packaging of salvage product for distribution.

Qualifications
HS Diploma/GED preferred. Volunteer coordination and/or experience leading groups or supervising employees preferred. Tow motor and pallet jack experience preferred.
Physical Requirements and Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Salary Range: $19.61/hr - $22.07/hr based on experience
