Associate Ombudsman Jobs

Summary

This position is located at Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Office of the Ombudsman. As an Associate Ombudsman, you will work with the Ombudsman to liaise between the CFPB and consumers, financial entities, consumer or trade groups, or anyone else to assist in informally resolving process issues arising from the CFPB's regulatory activities.

Responsibilities

As an Associate Ombudsman, you will:

• Write reports to analyze systemic issues and make recommendations for change. Write sections of, analyze data for, and otherwise contribute to the Office's Annual Report as well as other reports.
• Uphold and convey to stakeholders the basic ombudsman professional standards of practice of independence, impartiality, and confidentiality in all aspects of the position.
• Liaise between CFPB and consumers, financial entities, consumer or trade groups, or anyone else to assist in resolving individual and systemic process issues resulting from the CFPB's regulatory activities. Impartially review laws, regulations, data, and factual circumstances regarding individual and systemic issues and provide feedback and suggest recommendations for change, as needed.
• Regularly meet with the CFPB and public stakeholders to further understand individual and systemic issues and apply conflict resolution/problem-solving skills to assist in resolving those issues. Analyze data as well as CFPB policies, practices, and other information to identify possible systemic process issues. To advocate for fair process in consumer financial protection, identify opportunities for improvement to CFPB policies and practices, and develop feedback and/or recommendations for the CFPB to implement changes.
• Develop and participate in outreach opportunities to make the CFPB, consumers, financial entities, consumer and trade groups, and others aware of the Ombudsman's Office's services.
