Job Description

Our new Warehouse Manager must not only have strong technical skills, it is essential s/he is also a servant leader who can lead with humility.

With over fifty years of manufacturing experience, Ready Foods is a mature, stable, and well-run business. While we are excellent at what we do, we nevertheless continually strive for perfection. Ready Foods has embraced lean manufacturing as our operating philosophy. We take inspiration from the Toyota Production System and the principles first elucidated by Shigeo Shingo and Taiichi Ohno.

Our new Warehouse Manager must be able to provide the leadership and vision to help shape our strategies, goals and objectives. This position will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of warehouse operations, including inventory management, shipping and receiving, storage, and distribution. You will lead a team of warehouse staff to maintain a well-organized and efficient facility, ensuring timely delivery of products while adhering to safety guidelines and quality standards.

The position is a full-time salaried position reporting directly to the Director of Operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency enhancement within the warehouse. Implement best practices to increase productivity and reduce operational costs.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and motivate warehouse personnel to create a cohesive and efficient team. Set performance goals, provide constructive feedback, and conduct regular evaluations to foster a positive working environment.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance and repair of warehouse equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks and racking, to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Safety and Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols and regulations within the warehouse. Regularly inspect equipment, machinery, and facilities to identify and rectify potential hazards. Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
  • Inventory Management: Develop and implement inventory control procedures to optimize stock levels, prevent shortages, reduce waste and ensure accurate record-keeping. Conduct regular cycle counts and reconciliation to maintain inventory accuracy.
  • Order Processing and Fulfillment: Review incoming orders, ensuring prompt and accurate picking and shipping of products. Monitor order fulfillment metrics to meet customer expectations and service level agreements.
  • Logistics Coordination: Coordinate with logistics partners and carriers to schedule timely shipments and deliveries. Work closely with the transportation team to optimize distribution routes and minimize transportation costs.
  • Staff Development: Provide ongoing training and development opportunities for warehouse employees to enhance their skills and knowledge. Foster a culture of continuous learning and growth within the team.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Generate regular reports on warehouse performance, including key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational metrics. Maintain accurate records of inventory levels, shipments, and other warehouse-related activities.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and mentor employees.
  • Exceptional communication skills to liaise with internal teams and external partners.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proven experience (5 years) in warehouse management or a similar role in a fast-paced distribution environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Lean Experience (Kanban, Kaizen, Kata,)
  • Proficiency in ERP, inventory management software and warehouse management systems.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in warehousing and distribution.
