POSITION SUMMARY

The Bumble Bee Seafood Company is looking for a self-motivated and resourceful VP for Responsible Sourcing and Sustainability to manage and coordinate multi-functional teams of stakeholders in support of sustainability programs and projects key to Bumble Bee’s seafood businesses. Candidates must possess and demonstrate knowledge and understanding of industry issues and be able to represent Bumble Bee to various stakeholder groups to support optimization of sustainability goals.

Duties are varied and include communicating effectively with a broad range of socio-economic levels and internal and external teams and groups. These may include trade associations, domestic and international environmental and resource organizations, customers, universities, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO’s), technology development groups, consumer marketing and sales groups, Bumble Bee supply chain group, logistics and procurement, as well as suppliers and related entities.

The successful candidate will develop comprehensive plans to support specific sustainability programs, projects, and initiatives for Bumble Bee with economic, social, and environmental progress in mind.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Identify and monitor emerging trends in environmental areas related to the company operations and supply chain to inform and improve BB’s, and as appropriate FCF’s, performance and create a competitive advantage within the industry.
  • Support, mentor and train sustainability team members and other key support roles in BB and FCF to support sustainability objectives, transfer knowledge and position the organization for longer term success.
  • Lead responsible sourcing and sustainability engagement with suppliers and innovation groups to understand new materials, trends, and position the company ahead of competitors.
  • Communicate and coordinate efforts throughout all BB facilities, operations, sales, marketing, and suppliers as warranted.
  • Ensure all BB internal policies and protocols are implemented in a timely and orderly fashion.
  • Represent BB regarding key trade association, multi stakeholder groups, professional sustainability, and packaging related groups (e.g., STF, ISSF) and work to develop collaborative programs that advance company sustainability and social objectives.
  • Develop programs in cooperation with customers, universities, external stakeholder / NGO groups, and internal (BB/FCF) teams to ensure optimization of sustainability & social objectives.
  • Ensure positive engagement with all relevant US Government and other governmental authorities, as appropriate (e.g., SIMP, RFMO engagement, legislative members etc.).
  • Craft environmental goals, policies, and plans for company operations (such as climate, waste, water). Responsible for documentation and coordination with FCF.
  • Responsible for BB Sustainability group budget and provide supervision and guidance to staff assigned as reports.
  • Lead the sustainability teams’ efforts on plastics and ghost gear, as well as other internal and external programs or projects related to sustainability and social responsibility matters.
  • Develop key metrics to establish a baseline, measure performance and document performance improvements for each of our initiatives.
  • Work with operations, logistics, procurement, product development, IT, communications, consumer marketing, and sales to align and implement these goals plans across the organization.
  • Create and lead sustainability strategy to support specific programs and projects for Bumble Bee (BB) Manage a cross functional team of stakeholders internally (FCF and Bumble Bee) and externally as needed to deliver required results.
  • Work with all aspects of the BB Supply Chain group (procurement, purchasing, operations, and logistics) to identify process efficiencies and improvements that will further sustainability objectives and overall company performance.


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Self-motivated, self-starter able to develop and implement novel and/or original ideas, be resourceful, and pursue difficult problems to a logical and satisfactory conclusion.
  • Demonstrate experience in personal management and budgetary controls.
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences (or related field) with a minimum of 5-10 years relevant experience.
  • General computer proficiency including standard software (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, database management, etc.).
  • Experience in designing sustainability strategies.
  • Proven project / process managerial and leadership skills to effectively address critical, technical issues and direct cross-functional teams.
  • Effective oral and written communication / presentation skills to convey complex, technical information in a simple, easily understood manner to individuals, including the public at large, who have little or no background on the subject(s) in question.
  • Ability to effectively network and build strategic relationships with internal and external partners / stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills and demonstrated problem solving skills to create long-term strategic plans as well as, anticipate, pre-empt, and deal with varied issues related to internal and external customer/stakeholder demands.

The compensation for this role includes base salary and eligibility for an annual bonus based on company performance. All incentive plans are subject to change.


The pay range for this role is $159,486 – $296,188 annually. *Compensation to commensurate with level of knowledge, education, skills, and experience applicable to the position.
