Job Description
Summary: Reporting to the Chief Product & Technology Officer, the Vice President of Product is responsible for the strategic planning and execution of the product roadmap. This role will serve as the operational lead and resource point for Product Directors & Program Manager(s). You will serve as the central resource for executive management and leadership from other teams into the product team, roadmap, and delivery. You will ensure collaboration across Product Directors and supporting Product roles to deliver and support high-quality products to our customers and market. This person will bring their experience as a seasoned product expert and impart that knowledge into the Product Directors for the mapping, telephony, analytics, and mobile streams.

Education:
bachelor’s or master’s degree in business in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience is required. Master's degree is preferred.

Background/Experience:
Ten (10) plus years of experience in product and project/program management and software development process experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and project management skills; ability to work across teams in person as well as virtual team environments to achieve business objectives.
  • Proven track record of understanding and management of development cost amortization
  • Proven track record in summarizing and relaying information/status updated to the Executive Team
  • Hands-on technical skills with the inquisitiveness to learn products, work with them, and provide recommendations to drive continuous improvement based on user value.
  • Demonstrates key leadership competencies, including social intelligence, conflict management, interpersonal skills, learning agility, decision-making, being a good coach, emotional intelligence, industry experience, change management, inclusiveness, and organizational citizenship.
  • Able to manage multiple work streams effectively and provide timely updates to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience leading and managing Product Managers, Technical Product Managers, or equivalent Product Management roles, delivering revenue-generating products to the market.
  • Proven success in setting up an Internal Go To Market (GTM) process to keep organization informed on health and status of the various product offerings.
  • Experience and expertise in utilizing product management tools – product design (e.g., Invision, Zeplin), development task management (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps), documentation and knowledge (e.g., Confluence, SharePoint), collaboration (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Slack), roadmap and portfolio management (e.g., Aha! Daptiv)
  • Ability to work independently, yet collaboratively, in a cross-functional, multi-national company, supportive of diversity, equity, and inclusion among internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven success in showing maximum return on prioritised feature sets (e.g., shortest job to maximum revenue)
  • Proven success in developing software product roadmaps, launching products on time, and reprioritizing plans rapidly.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Communicate effectively across the organization to help the broader team to understand strategy, product positioning, functionality/capabilities, and execution to drive sales/product adoption.
  • Support learning and developmental goals for those within the supervisory span to not only define expectations for performance, but also in their future development. Actively soliciting feedback and input from direct reports related to aspirations. Effectively triage and manage performance issues and close gaps timely.
  • Collaborate with marketing to create digital and traditional collateral for promotion and sales enablement to win new customers and maximize value for existing customers.
  • Represent the product and the company at industry, market, and customer events to communicate value to users and insights into development plans.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on the value (why solving this problem matters) and functionality of your product to inspire build teams and rally around accomplishing difficult goals that support the business’ best interests.
  • Ensure training and support to sales and implementation teams is adequate in order to increase software product adoption within new and existing customers.
  • Foster healthy working relationships built on mutual trust and collaboration, upholding the mission and values of the company to drive outcomes and optimize performance within the organization.
  • Demonstrates industry knowledge and specific domain expertise in the workings of their product to provide decisions and guidance to build teams and stakeholders.
  • Collaborates with engineering and quality assurance to ensure the right customer problem is solved through review and reinforcement of the vision and direction.
  • Manages and oversees backlog and release management, including, but not limited to:
  • Collaborate in the development of go to market plans and sales collateral in partnership with sales and marketing. Communicate value proposition to the sales team.
  • Produce and maintain executive and board of directors’ level materials to represent the product development function within the company efficiently and accurately.
a. Ensures business objectives, strategic priorities, and customer needs are prioritized into a backlog of initiatives, epics, features, and user stories by the Product Directors, and supporting product team members.
b. Oversees and manages the software roadmap and planning process using a data-driven approach to accurately track feasibility of new development items quickly and articulate confidence in delivering planned items on time and on scope.
c. Assists leadership in defining the software product vision and translating it into specific projects, action plans, and tactics that can be understood by development teams and management to achieve business goals.
d. Defines customer needs and the associated features to meet those needs. Take a “What problem are we trying to solve?” philosophy/approach to product development.
e. Develops early initial sizing and feasibility of product backlog in collaboration with Product Directors and engineering leads in order to build and manage a data-driven roadmap.
f. Prioritizes defect or bug resolution based on organizational objectives to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction and customer base stability against competing build options.
g. Defines and executes a robust set of processes to power all parts of the product development lifecycle from research/discovery to release management and product support, keeping the planning-to-delivery process predictable and efficient in order to maximize Product and Development efforts on value-added work.
h. Drives and influences product and development teams toward aggressive delivery goals and high standards of quality to maximize output and business value, and customer satisfaction.
