Job Description

Overview

Job Title: VP LOSS PREVENTION
Business: SHARED

Essential Functions
The Vice President is responsible for the strategic planning and execution of the companys Loss Prevention and Safety Program. The VP will work closely with the other Company teams such as Store Operations, Distribution, Finance, Legal, Risk Management and Human Resources to ensure company assets including cash, inventory and people are safeguarded.

Primary Duties

  • 10% Development of subordinate personnel to perform multi-store and multi-tasking responsibilities with outstanding leadership and communication skills. Provide direction, coaching and support for subordinate personnel.
  • 25% Manages, evaluates, and reports on activities in regard to suspected or verified events, which involve theft, fraud, embezzlement, diversion of assets or other similar acts.
  • 10% Create policies and procedures related to the Loss Prevention Safety Department and associated activity within all departments and locations, which will aid the company in reducing exposures to identifiable risks and identifying breakdowns in internal controls and the safe operation of our associates.
  • 5% Maintain timely and accurate reporting of all significant incidents to key executive members as necessary.
  • 5% Responsible for the administration concerning the status of present and planned activities. Assumes additional responsibilities and performs special projects as may be directed.
  • 35% Directs, develops, and manages the implementation of education and communications programs in the areas of Loss Prevention, controls compliance, shortage recognition, and an effective loss prevention awareness program. Reviews and measures the success of the loss prevention training program. Implements necessary changes to the training program that will aid in the reduction of reoccurring business problems.
  • 10% Responsible for approving budget allocations and capital expenditures in the areas of physical security, loss prevention, and loss prevention awareness, and safety for all company operating units.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelors degree, in criminal justice, business management or liberal arts preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint) Basic knowledge of physical, document, personnel, and operational systems security
  • Professional Certification is highly desired (CPA, CFE, CPP, CFI, etc.).
  • Working knowledge in corporate financial operations to include inventory management; information systems, exception based data management, financial controls and safety management (OSHA Standards) .
  • 10 years of experience in Loss Prevention.
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in Loss Prevention at a senior or executive managerial level.

Working Conditions /Physical Requirements

  • The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, files, books, small parts; using a keyboard, driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
  • The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, retail stores, and residences or commercial vehicles, e.g., use of safe work practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, observance of fire regulations and traffic signals, etc. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.
