Summary: The VP, Contracts and Procurement identifies and implements the overall commercial strategy to achieve long-term goals and objectives for RES Americas. This position provides senior leadership to the RES Americas support activities including Contract Transactions and Procurement as necessary. This position is also part of the Construction Leadership Team (CLT) and regularly interacts with and supports the leadership of Solar, Transmission Distribution Development, and Wind P&Ls as required.

  • Participates in hiring and selection process to fill positions on the team.
  • Uses key supplier relationships to support the Canadian Construction team.
  • Accountable to continually reinforce safe behaviors and correct “at risk” behaviors.
  • Strong strategic skills as well as the ability to execute.
  • Overall responsibility for development and management of standard Subcontract MSA’s. Approves any deviations from standard terms.
  • Drives innovation with key equipment and service suppliers.
  • Presents, supports, and leads-by-example with a safety and quality-oriented attitude.
  • Participates in the Group RRIC and Major Transactions Committee (MTC) reviews providing support to the Americas Executive team as needed.
  • Advanced negotiation skills and experience with renewable energy projects.
  • Conducts timely, effective performance reviews in accordance with RES guidelines.
  • Leads by example to show that safety is the most important function, ensuring that all employees follow safe practices while working.
  • Oversees direct reports who drive the development of processes, systems, and standardization to ensure risk mitigation and adherence to the stage gate process.
  • Fosters and demonstrates a workplace inclusive of creating opportunity, serving others, building trust, innovation, and exceeding expectations.
  • Demonstrates leadership and expertise in eyes of client group.
  • Participates as a member of the Construction Leadership Team, making a total contribution as part of this team.

  • Ensures Procurement group carries out proper supplier evaluation and assessment.
  • Provides tasks and assignments that challenge and stretch employees’ responsibilities.
  • Provides guidance and support to the Contract professionals in negotiating commercial terms with Main Clients.
  • Coordinates with the Global Procurement team to establish best practices across the organization.
  • Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected.
  • Adheres to and ensures all site team members understands standard operating procedures.
  • Communicates regularly with direct reports on goals, accomplishments, and information on policies.
  • Develops overall Procurement and Contracting Strategy.
  • Understanding of renewable energy development process, construction risks, and operational management.
  • Leads and supports the site team in technical, quality and safety, utilizing system in place.
  • Employee Development:
    • Provides tasks and assignments that challenge and stretch employees’ responsibilities.
    • Conducts regular discussions with employee(s) on personal development. Comfortable with empowering others.
    • Conducts timely, effective performance reviews in accordance with RES guidelines.
  • Executive responsibility for implementation of the procurement improvement plan.
  • Ability to delegate and lead other leaders by example and provide necessary tools, teaching, and empowerment for people to succeed.
  • Manages one or more direct reports.
  • Leads a team of Contract Transactions and Procurement team leaders and their direct reports to drive alignment across commercial support functions, ensuring no gaps.
  • Establishes strategic relationships with identified significant equipment suppliers, key accounts, key investors, and other industry influencers.
  • Functional competencies include accountability, building strategic partnerships, business acumen, ethics & integrity, and managing vision & purpose.
  • Advanced understanding of and experience in the energy industry, including market financing and renewable energy technology, including solar, wind, and energy storage; ability to provide insight, vision, and leadership to advise business leaders regarding commercial areas of the business successfully.
  • Outstanding client management capabilities that allow strong and value- add partnerships and relationships to be developed across the RES organization and with external clients.
  • Complies with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct, and Company Policies & Procedures.
  • Strong project management and organizational ability, with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Provides support and advise to ALM’s on commercial strategies.


Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree-Required

Master’s Degree in Business, Engineering, Finance, Economics or a related field of studyPreferred

Minimum of 10 years of structuring and closing various types of energy transactions; experience with EPC contracts-Required

Minimum of 3 years of leading multiple direct reports-Required

Travel: Domestic & International: 16%-30%

Anticipated base salary range: $183,000-$215,000

The final agreed-upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. This position is bonus eligible.
