The Vice President is responsible for the efficient operations of ambulatory services. Ambulatory services includes all free standing clinics and hospital-based clinics of WVU Medicine Princeton Community Hospital.
Provides executive leadership and direction to ambulatory services with emphasis on business development, clinical integration, and oversight of financial and operational functions. Through the Ambulatory Service structure, the VP provides management oversight for the development of high quality, patient-centered, cost effective and integrated clinical programs. Leads the execution of business plans to enhance the organization’s market position.
Develops and expands ambulatory services and initiatives in support of increased volumes and revenues from ambulatory lines of business. Responsible for overall operations of outpatient services and other ambulatory care support operations. Works in collaboration with inpatient leadership to integrate services and achieve outcomes.
The VP will exercise management responsibility over the Ambulatory Services ensuring efficient services that are designed to meet the needs of patients, physicians, the public and staff directly, or through delegation of responsibility to the management staff. The VP will collaborate with the Chief Medical Officer as appropriate to assist with execution of the clinical mission.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration is required with a focus in Finance, Accounting, or related field.

EXPERIENCE:

1. 7 to 10 years’ related experience with a minimum of four years of executive or leadership experience in a health care setting.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Master’s Degree or equivalent experience.

2. Certified Public Accountant.

EXPERIENCE:

1. Experience in a multi-specialty group practice plan.

2. Experience in physicians contracting, negotiations, and compensation metrics.

1. Develop and foster effective collaboration between clinical departments and divisions to ensure an integrated approach to providing services, and fulfilling the organization’s clinical goals and objectives.

2. Develop new business strategies to enhance market share and improve overall performance.

3. Work with the management team and medical leadership serving as a resource to help improve access, reduce costs, enhance revenues, achieve effective utilization and quality goals and objectives, analyze and utilize information to develop and support management decisions.

4. Lead and support key committees pertaining to ambulatory operations.

5. Ensure compliance with relevant licensing, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.

6. In collaboration with other institutional leaders, the Vice President is responsible for a comprehensive patient safety and clinical quality performance improvement plan for Ambulatory Services.

7. Assist in development and assessment of employment vehicles within the WVUHS for providers of professional services as appropriate. Ensure coordination of employment vehicles. Ensure that employment vehicles are consistent and compliant. Help assess the appropriate vehicle for providers and assist with onboarding.

8. The Director of Ambulatory Services will report directly to the Vice President. Together, they will be responsible for clinical budgeting and forecasting, revenue and expense management, clinical and support staff management, and overall clinical operations. VP will establish performance expectations and review the continuing performance of individual clinics.

9. Establish in collaboration with the Chief Financial Officer an effective operating and capital budget process.

10. In conjunction with the budget and financial review process, establish, maintain and manage benchmark-based operating budgets for ambulatory operations.

11. Build on existing benchmarks and targets to assess programmatic gains and to demonstrate the impact of services.

12. Overall responsibility for ambulatory care revenue and expense forecasting; contribute to organization-wide forecasting through active partnership with the CFO.

13. Work collaboratively with executive management and other staff, as directed, to produce thoughtful programmatic and financial analysis for new business opportunities and proposal development.

14. Support the Executive Leadership Group in the analysis of clinician recruitment, including but not limited to needs analysis, financial impact, and funding requirements.
