Direct responsibility for the operation of a highly matrixed organization in support of Zimmer Biomet’s Technology Data Solutions (TDS) business. This position reports directly to the Global Operations and Logistics SVP with dotted line reporting to the TDS President and establishes requirements for alignment to the business in support of meeting business requirements and customer needs. Additionally, this position establishes an operational environment that fosters quality and operational excellence, compliance with all regulatory requirements, and effective and efficient results. This position is responsible for meeting the needs of the business by managing the on time and in full delivery of the highest quality products globally to meet customer demands.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Work with a diverse group of leaders, overseeing assigned areas including CAS Operations, the Global Robotic Distribution Centers, TDS Supply Chain, Strategic Supplier Support, PSI/eManufacturing, Robot Manufacturing and Project Management. Drive and link business opportunities with manufacturing or sourced capabilities including the application of innovative technologies in manufacturing processes Establish a strategic plan for the TDS operations function to drive successful results and year on year continuous improvement. Ensures compliance to various regulatory requirements including quality, safety, and environmental. Interface with Research, Product Development, Marketing, Sourcing, and Supply Chain groups for successful introduction and continuing production of products. Attract, retain, and encourage individual development of key personnel for future assignments by arranging appropriate formal training, mentoring, or other experiences. Develop and drive an operating culture that promotes consistency of behaviors that lead to superior business performance.

Expected Areas of Competence

Experience with manufacturing technologies used in the medical capital product industry is preferred. Experience guiding and implementing high velocity large scale change initiatives that produce greater level of innovation, quality, service, efficiency, and learning. Demonstrated ability to partner directly and in a matrixed environment collaboratively to negotiate and resolve problems and issue and achieve successful results. Thorough knowledge and understanding of overall operations and supply chain management. Strong competency in financial management of a key operations role. Understand and comply with regulatory requirements (Quality Systems Regulations, ISO, MDD, Quality Manual, EHS, etc) as they apply to medical technology. Stays abreast of emerging regulatory trends. Understanding of applicable legal and regulatory requirements within the medical technology industry. Must have proficiency and experience in the following areas: capacity planning and development; budgeting for multiple profit centers; development of quality/productivity plans; new product process development; manufacturing flow analysis and implementation, personnel selection, management, and development.

Education/Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business with 15+ years of progressive and extensive applicable work experience in manufacturing, quality, and/or development engineering. MBA preferred.
