Job Description
Job Summary:
The Virtual Triage RN utilizes the Epic EMR to follow triage demand across all network Emergency Department sites and provide a "virtual" nurse to triage based on surges in arrivals at any given site in real time .
Education - Required:
  • Associate's Degree Graduate of accredited school of nursing


Education - Preferred:
  • Bachelor's Degree Graduate of accredited school of nursing and
  • Professional Certification in Clinical Practice Specialty, Completion of ATCN and ENPC


Experience - Required:
  • 2 years Two years recent experience in an emergency department to include triage experience of both pediatric and adult patients.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Required:
  • Basic computer skills, successful completion of ESI training. Strong Clinical Assessment Skills. Demonstrates effective communication skills. Demonstrates initiative and can function independently as well as interdependently. Demonstrates the ability to initiate, accept and adapt to change. Demonstrates time management and organizational skills. Accepts and recognizes differences among people. Recognizes Virtual ED Triage nursing as emergency nursing triage practice over distance using telecommunications technology.
  • Successful completion of LVHN emergency care curriculum or previous emergency nursing experience. Successful completion of cardiac arrhythmia interpretation course by completion of orientation or passing score on challenge exam for cardia arrhythmia interpretation course. Basic proficiency in medication administration examination within first six weeks.

    Licensure - Required:
    • Registered Nurse Current Pennsylvania Registered Nurse licensure Upon Hire


    Certifications - Required:
    • ACLS - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Upon Hire
    • BLS - Basic Life Support Upon Hire
    • PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support Upon Hire

    Location: Lehigh Valley Health Network · Emergency Service - 17Th
    Schedule: Part Time 24 hours per week, Evening Shift, 0930-2200
