The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and qualified Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN2) for the Washington Corrections Center located in Shelton, WA.

Current Full Time Shifts Available:
:
  • On-Call
  • Sunday - Thursday 14:00 - 22:30
  • Saturday - Wednesday 00:00 - 08:30
  • Wednesday - Sunday 00:00 - 08:30
  • Variable Days and Shifts Off

Licensed Practical Nurses will receive shift differential in the amount of two dollars and fifty cents ($2.50) per hour for evening shift and night shift work. Employees may also qualify for one or both of these supplemental shift premiums in addition to the above.
  • One dollar ($1.00) per hour during any hours assigned to work from 11:00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m.
  • Three dollars ($3.00) per hour during any hours worked from Friday midnight to Sunday midnight.
Washington Correction Center is our transition center were all those that are being assigned to DOC come to for initial evaluation and then sent to other facilities for their care needs. They are a busy facility seeing up to 100 patients a day, for physical and transfers. Washington Correction Center has both and inpatient and outpatient clinics that see numerous patients for different health needs and concerns.
  • Outpatient clinic 15-30 patients per day
  • Inpatient unit is a 14 bed unit
  • Treatment and evaluation of many chronic disease

Duties

Under general supervision, our Licensed Practical Nurse provides practical nursing care and treatment services in a prison facility.

  • Delivers services which promote health, foster healing and support coping and adjustment to various health conditions.
  • Collaborates and triages with other members of the interdisciplinary health care team to develop comprehensive plans to provide continuity of care.
  • Preparing medication carts for remote pill lines, administration of medications guided by the 7 Rights of Medication Administration, and patient education.
  • Screening, assessing, and evaluating patients and the conditions where they live and work to ensure that they are well, safe and their health care continuous.

Qualifications

  • Note: Must have initial and continuous unencumbered/unrestricted licensure.
  • Possess an American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Washington State license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse, free of any actions.

  • One year of experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
