Job Description

Duties

  • Maintains program and administrative reference materials, project files and relevant background documents and makes available policies, procedures, and written instructions relevant to current victimization cases. Generates reports and analysis.
  • Assists with securing a wide variety of specialized victim services. Coordinates efforts with local victim services providers, social services, law enforcement-based and victim assistance providers.
  • Represents VRAP in inter-agency workgroups, trainings, Family Advocacy Committee meetings, and task force meetings. Establishes and maintains strong working relationships with community partners and other government agencies.
  • Serves as the point of contact in coordinating victim care which includes providing comprehensive assistance and liaison to and for victims of crime and referrals to the Bureau.
  • Conducts segments of training sessions and provides information and resources to DS special agents and Department staff on victim assistance matters.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet all the qualification requirements described below by the closing date of this announcement.

Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Experience analyzing regulations on victims’ rights to obtain restitution, representation and other eligibilities for witnesses of crime.
  • Experience linking victims to national and international resources to address financial, case management, social services, counseling and judicial support as a result of victimization.
  • Experience utilizing proprietary and law enforcement-related information to contribute to investigations and build rapport to foster witness participation in the judicial process.
  • Experience synthesizing priorities and resource needs for victims to respond to barriers to participation in the judicial process.
  • Experience serving as a first responder to victims to provide advocacy to those experiencing manifestations of trauma as symptoms of victimization.
  • Experience providing training through oral communication to effectively reconcile victims’ needs and express victim-centric approaches to witness interactions.

There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-12 position.
