Vice President Operations Jobs

Are you a seasoned manager/director or VP in homebuilding, construction, building supplies, civil engineering, manufactured housing or other related industries and looking to join and lead a fast growing organization?

Our client is a regional leader in the Manufactured Housing Communities (MHC) space with properties in North Carolina and the Northeast/Central Midwest areas and targeting a growth hire to train underneath the Managing Director to help support their rapid company growth.

We are looking for someone who is open and willing to travel roughly 40-50% of the times, typically 2 days a week as needed and someone thrives in problem solving. You will be leading a team of 85-100 people dispersed geographically and will the go-to person as problems arise in the MHC communities. You will have an excellent and highly qualified team and support system, so you do not need prior MHC experience for this role.

Senior Director (or VP) of Operations

• Lead team of 100 home set and maintenance personnel through five current Regional Operations Managers who oversee them
• Based in Raleigh-Durham area
• Works for Managing Director and assumes leadership of all regions over time
• 40-500% travel to IN/OH/PA and rest to other areas of portfolio (NC/MD/VA)
• Partners with internal teammates who will serve/supply deep MH-focused experience

Expertise

• Ability to learn and adapt to the nuances of mobile home setting
• Able to experience comfort with discomfort
• A traveling people manager “who can meet folks where they are”
• Creative problem solving / project management in permitting water, sewer, electric, etc
• Leading different construction-oriented personalities remotely as the “managerial athlete” / empathizer / PM
• Recruiting, hiring, firing, development teams across 8+ states
• Cost/Benefit-minded investment in materials, equipment and vendors
• Constant eye towards utilizing existing scale to achieve heavy impact in contract negotiations
• Ability to communicate with and leverage township/county/state officials towards maximum measurable financial outcomes for communities
• On road fighting fires and getting urgent phone calls from Regional Operations Managers who lead teams of 15-30 daily

Estimated allocation of time

• 20% hiring and developing the team in new geographies / support acquisitions
• 20% capital projects – budgeting and PM of community infill surpassing $20 million annually, with many other singular one-off projects in the $25k-$100k range
• 40-60% daily calls / traveling / with Regional Operations Managers, problem solving the set of 250+ homes/year

Competitive Base salary - ($125-$150K base, depending on experience)
