FTS is seeking a highly skilled and dynamic leader to join our company as Vice President of Operations/Sales. In this role, you will be responsible for managing various stakeholders, connecting with people, from technicians to board members, and driving the company's growth and success through your entrepreneurial drive and expertise in commercial processes. The ideal candidate is tactful, a quick learner, possesses high energy, and has a proven track record of operational excellence and exceptional sales growth in the power generation and industrial equipment and services sector.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Entrepreneurial Drive: Exhibit a proactive and innovative mindset to identify new business opportunities, drive growth, and develop strategies to stay ahead of the competition in the industrial equipment and services market, maintaining awareness of competitors, expansion opportunities, customers, markets, and new industry developments and standards.
- Financial Acumen: Assist in managing the company's finances, identifying ways to increase revenue and decrease costs, analyzing financial reports, and preparing operating budgets.
- Team Leadership: Provide strong leadership to the team, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and high performance. Set clear goals and expectations, provide guidance, and support, and promote professional development.
- Relationship Building: Connect with individuals at all levels within the organization, from technicians to board members, to understand their needs, address concerns, and foster a positive and productive work environment.
- Commercial Processes: Oversee and optimize commercial processes, including sales, pricing, contract negotiations, and project management, to ensure profitability and customer satisfaction.
- Communication and Presentation: Effectively communicate the company's vision, goals, and performance to various stakeholders through presentations, reports, and other communication channels.
- Market and Decision Analysis: Stay updated on industry trends, market dynamics, and emerging technologies related to industrial equipment and services. Conduct market research and analysis to identify potential areas for expansion and diversification. Utilize data-driven analysis to assess business performance, identify trends, and make informed decisions regarding operational strategies, resource allocation, and market expansion.
- Strategic Planning: Collaborate with the executive team to develop and execute the company's strategic plans, setting ambitious goals and implementing initiatives to achieve sustainable growth and profitability.
- Stakeholder Management: Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, suppliers, partners, and internal teams, to ensure alignment and effective collaboration.

Requirements
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Commercial acumen: Sound understanding of commercial processes, including sales, pricing, contract negotiations, customer relationship and project management. Demonstrated ability to drive revenue growth and improve profitability.
- Proven experience: A minimum of 10 years of experience in the Power Generation and industrial equipment and services sector, with a track record of success in progressively senior roles. Enjoy and thrive in fast-paced, meritocratic environment or middle-market private-equity-backed firms.
- Excellent communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas and influence key stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., business, engineering, industrial management) is required. An MBA or other advanced degree is preferred.
- Proficiency in data analysis and the ability to leverage insights for effective decision-making.
- Continuous learner: Enthusiasm for learning about new technologies, industry trends, and market dynamics. Ability to adapt quickly and effectively to changing business environments.
- Leadership skills: Proven experience in leading and developing high-performing teams. Ability to inspire and motivate leaders and individual contributors, foster collaboration, and promote a positive work culture. Enjoy and excel in leading change and leading cross-functional teams with senior and front-line leaders; familiarity and willingness to adopt servant leadership mindset.
