Job Description

Haymarket Media, Inc. is seeking a Vice President of Medical Affairs to join Haymarket Medical Education (HME). This position will be located in our Paramus, NJ or New York, NY office (with periodic travel to Paramus). HME works on a hybrid schedule; however we will consider a fully remote option, if possible.

Haymarket Medical Education (HME), an accredited provider of continuing medical education (CME) programs for healthcare professions (HCPs), is seeking a Vice President of Medical Affairs to lead a credentialed Medical Affairs team. This position will support all custom education programs including digital, live and print, and reports into the Chief Medical Education and Innovation Officer.

We are currently seeking a Vice President of Medical Affairs, to lead HCP-focused strategies related to identifying new CME and continuing education (CE) grant opportunities. The individual will manage the Medical Affairs team in a truly collaborative effort with cross-functional teams including Grant Strategy, Outcomes, Program Management, Marketing and Product to develop educational design, strategy, products, content and outcomes to deliver unified educational solutions that address clinical needs among all HCPs which align with commercial funding availability.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in industry thought leadership events including but not limited to submission of abstracts for meetings, poster sessions, publication, presentations at ACCME, etc
  • Keeps abreast of supporter news, market conditions, competitive activities, educational and technological trends through ongoing research and engagement at industry and medical conferences, literature reviews and other sources
  • Serve as an expert spokesperson for the education solutions offered by HME during meetings, presentations and conferences with potential supporters
  • Review outcomes data to provide effective clinical interpretations that can be incorporated into proposals, outcomes presentations, abstracts and presentations for industry meetings and publications, and discussions with supporters to assist in business growth
  • Demonstrate and maintain up-to-date understanding of the therapeutic landscape across multiple key categories
  • Manage, mentor and oversee all work performed by members of the Medical Affairs team, medical/scientific writers, editors and freelancers to develop best-in-class needs assessments, grant proposals, activities and outcomes
  • Works with Grant Strategy Team to:
  • Work with internal stakeholders, medical experts, partners at medical associations and freelancers to develop annual and ad hoc needs assessments plans, as well as quarterly updates
  • Incorporate new instructional designs and product innovations in proposals; continue to revise grants to accommodate enhancements in products, learning design and market needs
  • Work with the team to develop effective pre- and post-test questions that will deliver quality outcomes
  • Lead strategy and oversee the development and submission of educational design, product concepts and grant proposals to secure funding for CME/CE initiatives, in compliance with ACCME, Joint Accreditation, and other relevant policies, standards and requirements
  • Prioritize proposals with the Grant Strategy and senior management teams and ensure that grant development proceeds in accordance with strategic planning and priorities
  • Develop and grow relationships with current and prospective pharmaceutical and medical device supporters in order to generate new medical education funding opportunities
  • Conduct ongoing outreach and presentations to existing and prospective supporters in a highly consultative fashion

Skills and Requirements:

  • Must demonstrate a strong practical knowledge of CME, CE, and the related ACCME, Joint Accreditation, and other relevant policies, standards and requirements and guidelines
  • Ability to understand and present scientific and clinical concepts in live presentations and in writing
  • Minimum educational requirement: Advanced degree in healthcare
  • Ability to travel
  • At least 7-10 years of experience, and a demonstrated record of success, related to identification and acquisition of independent education grant support
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively, especially with tight timelines, both independently and as part of a team
