Queens College, a senior college of The City University of New York (CUNY), offers a rigorous education in the liberal arts and sciences with the guidance of a faculty dedicated to teaching and research. As An Essential Leader At Queens College Who Reports To The College President, The Provost And Senior Vice President Of Academic Affairs


  • Serves as a member of the president's senior management team.
  • Enhances the College's academic reputation, impact and reach by providing strategic leadership and academic direction in accordance with the mission of the College and the University, the president's guidance, and institutional priorities.
  • Deeply engages in the development, evaluation, and implementation of academic College policy; the advancement of the College's strategic priorities and planning; and programmatic accreditation efforts.
  • Directly supervises administrators, school deans, and program directors and helps to set goals and priorities for their respective areas.


The Provost's Responsibilities Include


  • Overseeing all Queens College's schools as well as the Library, Research and Sponsored Programs, Honors and Scholarships, the First Year Experience program, Global Education and International Programs, Institutional Effectiveness, and Academic Advising, in addition to providing academic stewardship in Distance Education initiatives
  • Supporting collaborative efforts and initiatives between Queens College and a wide variety of partners, from two-year colleges and K-12 schools to community, business, and cultural organizations.
  • Providing administrative and financial leadership to schools, departments, and programs, ensuring that financial and physical resources are appropriately and efficiently managed.
  • Working closely with other offices within Queens College and the University's chancellery, in keeping with best practices across higher education, to ensure that teaching, research, and creative activity are high-quality and well supported


The provost works to increase support and advance institutional priorities for faculty and student success. Among these priorities are faculty research, new pedagogical modalities, student scholarships, internships, experiential learning opportunities, online learning, and global engagement. The provost will lead efforts to recruit, develop, and support talented, diverse, and inclusive faculty. This executive will develop innovative academic programming and partnerships to support enrollment efforts of our diverse and engaged student population.


Qualifications


This position is in CUNY's Executive Compensation Plan.


Minimum Qualifications


  • All executive positions require a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Demonstrated success in leadership and experience in administrative/academic positions.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness and leadership in financial management and resource allocation.
  • A distinguished record of teaching and scholarly accomplishment meriting appointment as a full professor in one of the College's academic departments.
  • An earned doctorate or other terminal degree.
  • Demonstrated success in strategic planning and effectiveness in working toward diversity, equity and inclusion in an academic environment.
  • Demonstrated success in facilitating opportunities for faculty research, academic freedom, and creative learning environments.
  • Demonstrable success in collaboration with multiple stakeholders; collegial engagement; and creative thinking and teamwork.
  • Affinity for the academic mission, core values, and future of Queens College, CUNY.
  • Strong communication skills with demonstrated interpersonal, active listening, and conflict management skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership with a deep understanding and prioritization of shared governance.

Compensation And Benefits


Salary : $230,000 - $264,180
