Job Description
We are a leading, national consulting firm that provides compassionate, full-spectrum emergency management services including planning and preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation services to the public and private sectors before, during and after a natural disaster or catastrophic event.

The Vice President of Innovation will be a key driver in shaping ACDC's future by leading strategic initiatives, fostering strategic partnerships, and leveraging emerging technologies to gain a competitive advantage, drive growth and capitalize on new business opportunities. All activities will be informed by ACDC’s Corporate Values Platform.

Tasks, Duties, And Responsibilities


Innovation (75%):


  • Build a network of internal champions and advocates for innovation, empowering employees at all levels to contribute to and participate in innovation initiatives.
  • Work closely with the Technology and Strategic Management Divisions to foster a culture of innovation by staying updated on emerging trends, technologies, and best practices.
  • Stay connected with industry networks, forums, and conferences focused on innovation, representing the organization, and bringing back insights and ideas to drive innovation.
  • Identify and establish partnerships with external stakeholders, such as startups, research institutions, and innovation hubs, to leverage external expertise and resources for innovation initiatives.
  • Collaborate with marketing and communications teams to highlight and promote the organization's innovative achievements and successes to external stakeholders.
  • Oversee the development and execution of pilot projects and prototypes to test and validate innovative concepts.
  • Monitor and measure the impact of innovation initiatives, gathering feedback and data to assess their effectiveness and make necessary adjustments.
  • Lead the development and implementation of the company’s Innovation Center of Excellence (ICOE) to develop a knowledge sharing framework and governance and facilitate ideation sessions and innovation workshops.
  • Proactively address issues such as data privacy, algorithmic bias, and social impact, ensuring that emerging technologies are developed and deployed in an ethical and sustainable manner.
  • Communicate and promote the value and benefits of innovation to internal stakeholders, fostering buy-in and support for innovation efforts
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
  • Coordinate training programs, workshops, and seminars to educate employees on emerging technology fundamentals, applications, and best practices
  • Continuously evaluate and evolve the organization's innovation strategy and processes based on feedback, industry trends, and changing business needs.
  • Actively participate in AI communities and networks, such as online forums, discussion groups, and professional networks. These platforms provide opportunities to connect with AI practitioners, share insights, and stay updated on the latest trends and breakthroughs.


Federal Intergovernmental Responsibilities (25%):


  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, such as government affairs, legal, communications, and business development, to ensure a coordinated and effective approach to federal advocacy efforts.
  • Provide guidance and advice to internal stakeholders on federal regulations and policies and develop strategies to mitigate risks and optimize opportunities.
  • Represent the organization in intergovernmental meetings, conferences, and forums to help foster partnerships with government entities.
  • Stay informed about federal government policies, priorities, and initiatives that may impact the organization's operations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with federal officials, industry associations, and other external stakeholders to promote the organization's interests and initiatives
  • Work closely with the business development division and intergovernmental affairs teams to craft and execute a comprehensive federal government relations strategy that aligns with the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Establish and build relationships with key decision-makers, policymakers, and influencers in the federal government, including members of Congress, federal agencies, and relevant committees.

Preferred Experience And Education


  • Strong knowledge of emergency management principles, practices, and industry trends.
  • 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in a managerial capacity that is directly related to this position.
  • Master’s degree in business administration, public policy, public administration or a related field.


Required Experience And Education


  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, public policy, or a related field.
  • 5-10+ years relevant work experience in policy/innovation and technology.
  • 10+ years of relevant senior leadership experience.
  • Years of experience can substitute for education requirement on a year for year basis on top of the requirements.


Supervisory Responsibilities


The Vice President of Innovation has direct supervisory responsibility as outlined in the company organization chart.


Expected Hours of Work


Requires ability to support an Emergency Management Environment including work on weekends and/or holidays to support an Emergency Management Environment. Dependability and punctuality are paramount.


Travel Requirements


Up to 25% travel is expected for this position.


Physical Requirements


  • Ability to work at a computer for long periods of time if needed.
  • Mobility around office and client sites.
  • Occasional lift, carry, bend, stoop and reaching required
  • Sitting or standing for hours at a time.


Work Environment


  • If the remote work site location changes, ACDC HR must be made aware, and leadership needs to approve any site changes for business registration and payroll tax purposes. 
  • All ACDC positions require travel to client sites or for emergency activations/deployments, as requested by leadership. 
  • All ACDC positions are remote work site positions with the home location agreed upon at time of hire. 
  • Remote with travel possible.


Additional Qualifications


  • Must pass background check upon offer of employment.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
