Job Description

Arris Partners has been retained on a VP of Distribution search for a growing PE-backed ~$3B CPG chemicals company that, despite the current economic condition, is thriving.


Reporting to the SVP of Transportation & Distribution, this VP of Distribution will be responsible for driving efficient and cost-effective operations across their entire distribution network (which includes both leased facilities and 3PL) through operational excellence, continuous improvement, and LEAN principles. This is role that is at the beginning of a total transformation and will need someone who can drive change, implement processes and KPI's, and build out a high performing team. Experience in implementing WMS is also critical as they begin that process. This a role fore someone who enjoys building vs. maintaining.


This role will be based out of the Atlanta area and will involve up to 50% travel.

Specific duties and responsibilities include:

•Support enterprise financial targets through the execution of distribution goals that drive efficiency, cost management, and growth opportunities

•Drive distribution execution that supports cost management and volume growth

•Implement continuous improvement strategies to drive operational efficiency and cost reduction

•Develop a robust operating rhythm to ensure that distribution priorities drive the desired financial results

•Establish enterprise distribution excellence, discipline that drives efficiency, cost management, scalability and value creation

•Drive 2023 priorities that drive operational performance and financial results

•Implement the distribution scorecard across critical 3PLs + 3 BUs that drives a common framework with clear visibility into BU performance, within the first three months of tenure

•Establish critical KPIs & TTIs rooted in industry best practices and tailored to the nuances of their business; ensuring the balance of cost vs. execution, within the first three months of tenure

•Establish, implement, and communicate the strategic direction of the organization’s distribution network to drive profitability, productivity, and efficiency throughout the company’s operations

•Ensure achievement of robust goals with specific KPIs to drive accountability

•Develop the internal capabilities (people, process, policies) to support improving customer service levels while looking for ways to reduce costs through process improvement, network optimization, and standardization across the company’s operations

•Lead, grow and develop a world-class team of distribution professionals made up of A players and maintain a high-performance culture across the organization

•Review staff across each BU and determine optimal organization structure to drive efficiency and results

•Formally identify top talent through evaluation of performance and potential, establishing formal development and career progression plans as follow-on actions.Take decisive actions on removing poor performers quickly and appropriately

•Articulate, role model, and hold the Distribution Team and 3PL Partners accountable to a culture of quality and service while driving integrity, collaboration, innovation, transparency, and high-performance.Set the tone for a culture of trust, ethics and integrity

•Drive a culture of problem solving and accountability, where results and ownership for results are key.Drive a culture of mentorship, coaching and employee development, with a specific focus on leadership development.Serve as a visible leader who champions the customer, balances the business and employees, inspires the team and makes this company a great place to work

•Exhibit the desired behaviors with the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), Operations Leadership and other key stakeholders to drive collaboration and team success.Purposefully establish strong relationships with ELT members and Operations leaders through regular and ongoing engagement

•Demonstrate collaboration with leadership on multiple levels on operational and non-operational priorities

•Evaluate WMS, YMS and LMS solutions to drive best in class distribution processes and procedures.Perform cost benefit analysis to justify expenditures


Qualifications:

•Bachelor’s degree in supply chain or related field OR equivalent applicable experience

•10+ years of experience in Distribution and/or Transportation

•5+ years of demonstrated successful people leadership experience, which includes experience managing managers/supervisors

•Direct P&L experience required

•Strong analytical and problem solving skills essential, to include statistical analysis

•Experience with international shipping preferred

•Inventory Control and Lifecycle management a must

•3PL management experience required

•Excellent organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills essential

•Strong sense of urgency and agility a must

•Excellent interpersonal communication skills including demonstrated transparency, humility and positive conflict resolution skills essential

•Up to 50% travel required
