Job Description

The Talbot Group, manager and developer of a 250-acre mixed-use urban village in Bellingham, WA. Known as Barkley Village, is seeking a visionary and experienced individual to oversee the development and construction of this dynamic property. As the Vice President of Development, you will play a pivotal role in realizing the long-term vision of Barkley Village. From master planning to project development, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the property's growth and transformation.


Essential Job Functions:

- Conduct or supervise project underwriting, design management, entitlements, permitting, construction, and seamless project hand-off to the Asset Management team.

- Lead or oversee market research and comparable project analysis to identify best-in-class planning, design, sustainability, and construction practices.

- Prepare and manage budgets, business plans, and financial reports for all design and build-out aspects.

- Monitor design and construction contracts to ensure adherence to budget and schedule targets.

- Provide oversight throughout the master plan infrastructure development and project build-out stages.

- Support project financing through the creation of schedules, budgets, proformas, and other relevant project data.

- Manage the Development Team, including positions such as Development Manager and Construction Manager.

- Collaborate with the Marketing, Facilities & Maintenance, and accounting teams within the Talbot Group's Asset Management group.

Qualifications - Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

- Significant work experience (10+ years) in real estate development-related fields, including construction, finance, architecture, urban planning, government regulatory agencies, campus management, and project management. Priority will be given to development managers in real estate organizations.

- Proven track record in conceptualizing, programming, designing, and/or building residential, office, retail, and mixed-use projects.

- Demonstrated commitment to sustainable design or construction practices, showcasing your dedication to creating environmentally conscious communities.

- Graduate degree in business, law, real estate development, or architecture, reflecting your advanced knowledge and expertise.
