Job Description
The Vice President of Cigna Dental and Vision is responsible for the overall strategy and profitable growth of Cigna Dental and Vision Solutions. This role oversees provider network strategy and retention, operations, clinical programs, sales/distribution, and solution development in line with Cigna's US Commercial value proposition.
This leader will ensure dental and vision products meet or exceed affordability goals and differentiate Cigna in the marketplace. The successful leader in this role will define Cigna's Dental and Vision strategy, create the roadmap and priorities to execute against this strategy, and will drive the optimal cross-enterprise collaboration to capture these opportunities. Achievements will be largely dependent on successfully partnering with multiple internal and external constituents.
This individual will be tasked with optimizing results based upon Cigna's existing leading position in the dental space, along with identifying and championing investments oriented around future capabilities and market penetration. This individual must also drive an effective operating model and management process across the enterprise that will achieve desired financial and membership targets.
Finally, this inspirational and authentic leader will develop and motivate a high-performing team, while fostering a diverse and inclusive culture. This individual will exhibit an enterprise mindset while working across functional areas to gain cross-collaborative partnerships to accelerate value. There will be heavy concentration on developing talent within the team, ensuring successful output.
Job Components
Identify and enable the execution of Cigna dental and vision growth opportunities, regardless of channel (employer-sponsored, individual, senior/Medicare, exchange, Payer Solutions, etc.)
Lead a direct report team comprised of Product/Solutions, Clinical, Network, Project Management, Distribution, Sales Enablement, and Business Operations. Lead and influence an extended team that includes matrix leaders that are either designated or dedicated to the dental/vision benefits business and include Legal, HR, Finance, Pricing, Underwriting, Compliance, Marketing, Customer and Client Operations, and IT.
Provide results-driven leadership and collaborate to ensure business activities and decisions are aligned to the strategy. Create an environment that leverages analytics, best practices, innovation and talent, along with corporate-wide resources, to benefit the dental and vision business.
Develop strong relationships with Growth Leaders across the enterprise to influence the sales, incentive compensation plans and implementation strategies.
Focus on change management and driving new ways of thinking about our go-to-market approach, where needed.
Research, analyze and monitor industry activity, demographic trends and consumer insights to capitalize on market opportunities.
Drive efficiency in the dental/vision operating model, ensuring the right leaders, strategies, and priorities are at the forefront.
Foster a success-oriented, accountable culture in the team that brings intellectual curiosity, questions “business as usual” practices and creates awareness of where a different approach is required.
Leads the efforts to provide education to the broader enterprise.
Collaborate and innovate with Cigna's core medical teams to capitalize on Cigna's integration opportunity to bundle offerings, including core medical and dental.
Clearly articulates “what success looks like” for the organization and ensures that actions are in place to accomplish the vision to drive results.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree desirable.
Seasoned, respected leader with a minimum of 15 years of experience in the employee benefits or health services industry.
Expertise and experience with dental and vision distribution channels, products, and affordability.
Deep understanding of the benefits industry, financial models, trends, and the value of integration.
Demonstrated results in being able to think strategically, anticipate future consequences and trends, and incorporate them into both a short-term and long-term operational business plan.
Enterprise thinker with proven ability to influence effectively through a matrix environment.
Influence ability with other segment leads, negotiating portfolio funding, etc.
Must have working experience in leadership and general management across multiple functions, inclusive of product, pricing, operations and marketing.
Proven track record of exceeding goals and a bottom-line orientation; evidence of the ability to consistently make good decisions through a combination of analysis, wisdom, experience, and judgment; high level of business acumen, the ability to balance the delivery of programs against the realities of a budget; allocates resources and manages operating expenses to maximize the P&L while managing risk.
Proven ability to develop strong customer/producer relationships. Understands the needs and expectations and can develop an aggressive strategy that will increase revenue, profitability and persistency while providing the services and products to expand market presence.
Ability to develop relationships across all levels of the organization, as well as externally.
Demonstrated ability to influence others and utilize resources to accomplish tasks. Strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
Enjoys working hard and looks for challenges; able to act and react as necessary, even if limited information is available; not afraid to take charge of a situation; can overcome resistance to leadership and take unpopular stands when necessary.
Comfortable dealing with and managing an ever-changing, highly competitive industry/ environment; communicates optimism and confidence in the future.
Demonstrated team building and people leadership skills.
Incumbent located near a Hub location is strongly preferred.
