Job Description

Position Title: Vice President, Quality

Position Reports To: Senior Vice President, Specialized Technical Services


Position Summary

The Vice President of Quality is responsible for the overall management, direction, and implementation of the quality program for Apache. Reporting directly to the SVP, Technical Services the Vice President of Quality develops and implements quality policies, procedures, and processes for the organization, including driving knowledge use within the company and managing quality data analytics.


Essential Functions


  • Manages and updates quality-related project manual policies and procedures and quality-related management software.
  • Communicates to the regions regarding best practices, lessons learned, recent events and training opportunities.
  • Participates in/support key project pursuits.
  • Drives knowledge use throughout the company to strengthen the links between knowledge sharing and the core processes to facilitate seamless exchange of information.
  • Participates in periodic site evaluations.
  • Negotiates contracts/master agreements with third party consultants to support the Quality program.
  • Provides ongoing status updates to executive management with recommendations for dealing with substandard performance and overall progress on quality goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Provides support to respective quality teams in implementing the quality program.
  • Develops and manages data analytics for the quality program by partnering with regions to effectively manage risk.
  • Works with preconstruction/estimating, scheduling, virtual design and construction, business development and marketing to maintain and enhance quality related goals and objectives in all phases of the project.
  • Responsible for process improvement, training, and implementation.
  • Supports implementation of the Quality Program on projects.
  • In partnership with regional Operations leadership, develop and coach others.
  • Seeks out and leverage industry quality management program best practices to continuously improve the company program.


Education & Experience


  • Proven ability to design, develop, implement, and evaluate company-wide programs, processes, and initiatives as it relates to Quality solutions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Experienced leader of people with the ability to motivate, develop and direct staff.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience related to quality control.
  • Must obtain a NACE Level 3 Coating Inspector (CIP) Certification - Required

Working Conditions/Physical Demands


  • No adverse environmental conditions expected.
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Frequent travel to work sites and offices (driving and/or flying); up to 50% travel required.
  • Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds.
