Vice President, Member Community and Corporate Partnerships


Overview


The Vice President for Member Community and Corporate Partnerships (VP MC&CP) oversees the design and implementation of the American Society of Military Comptrollers (ASMC) membership value, growth, and retention strategy that aligns with ASMC’s strategic objectives. The VP MC&CP is responsible for leading the development, implementation and evaluation of individual, academic, and corporate membership growth strategies, chapter and volunteer engagement, awards/scholarships and affinity programs, academic and association relationships, and day-to-day management of the Member Community and Corporate Partnerships department.


ASMC is a professional association (501c3) that promotes the education, training, and certification of the defense financial management workforce, drives financial transformation in the defense sector, and upholds the highest ethical and professional standards.


ASMC has ~14,000 individual members and ~70 corporate members who work in the defense financial management sector.


Responsibilities: Membership GrowthLeads the association’s overall strategy and efforts to recruit, retain, and engage individual, academic, and corporate members.Collaborates with senior leadership, department staff, and key members to:Create a roadmap for sustainable membership growth.Build a strong membership culture within the Association.Establish short- and long-range plans and goals to achieve organization membership objectives.Outline a data-driven member engagement, retention, and recruitment strategy and implementation plan.Develop strategies and programs to stimulate member engagement leading to membership retention.Develops regular reports on membership metrics and recommends/develops new member programs and services based on best practices, industry trends, and need of the organization.Identifies opportunities and collaborates with colleagues to enhance member benefits and services offered by the Association.Develops strategies to accurately gather, measure, bolster, and strengthen member engagement.Leads the effort to work with both staff and members to develop and manage processes for feedback on ASMC membership, programs, and services.Maintains oversite of all membership data, tracking, and reporting, to support analytics and decision making.


Chapter and Volunteer EngagementDevelops and executes programs to increase chapter and volunteer engagement in local- and national-level events and activities.Based on industry trends and organizational strategic needs, provides input related to content and intended outcomes of the communication plan designed by ASMC Marketing Department to keep chapters and volunteers informed of key events, activities, and new initiatives, and to seek feedback.Collaborates with education and certification departments to increase chapter involvement in, and access to, ASMC certification and educational offerings.


Awards/Scholarships and Affinity ProgramsResponsible for all aspects of the awards, scholarships, and affinity programs, including evaluation, promotion, and updates and changes to policies and processes.Develops and manages relationships with affinity program partners to provide value to ASMC members and attract potential members.Designs and implements an awards program that recognizes the accomplishments of both public and private sector defense financial managers, including organizational and corporate awards.Builds and manages the ASMC scholarship program, to include solicitation of donations from external organizations.


Academic and Association RelationshipsInitiates and manages strategic partnerships with related associations and groups to aid in recruitment and retention of membership; including, but not limited to, attendance at industry events and conferences to represent the Association.Develops and manages relationships with government and non-government academic institutions (e.g. schools, colleges, universities) supporting:membership growth, affinity programs, and awards & scholarshipscross-departmental offerings in professional development and certification


Community and Corporate Partnership ManagementServes as staff liaison to relevant Board of Directors’ committees; assists the committee chairs in the planning of meetings, development of the agenda, and in the execution of all committee activities.Overseas the staff liaison to local chapter and volunteer-led activities for PDI.Achieves the goals of ASMC membership while delivering and ensuring the highest level of service to the members.Manages Community and Corporate Partnership staff, to include recruitment, talent management, performance evaluation, training, disciplinary actions, retention, and termination.

Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree (B. A.) or equivalent from a four-year college or university.10+ years’ experience working in a membership-based organization with chapters.Experience working with membership software, preferably an established AMS system.Certified Association Executive (CAE) is preferred.Experience working with a military or government affiliated association is preferred. OFFICE/TRAVEL: ASMC is hybrid work environment.


Must be available to work a minimum of 2 days per week at the ASMC office in Alexandria, VA.Occasional travel to conferences, chapters, and other industry-related events may be required and assigned by management.
