Summary
Reporting to the Senior Vice President Hotel Operations, The Vice President, Full Service Hotel Operations’ main responsibilities are the operating performance of the Sonesta managed Full Service hotels. This includes accountability for the revenue, profit and loss for each of the hotels; guest satisfaction and employee satisfaction results; and brand engagement. As the strategic leader for the Full Service hotel, this position is responsible to champion, develop, maintain and drive brand & operating department standards, policies, and procedures. Working closely with other Corporate and Regional teams (e.g., HR, Commercial, Procurement, Training, Finance, Operations, etc.) this position will lead, partner and follow-up on projects and initiatives that will drive results to successfully achieve financial, guest, employee, and owner/asset management goals.Principle duties and responsibilities (Essential Functions) include:
- Promote the sharing of best practices in all disciplines between hotels and brands; identifying best in class operating practices and implementing them across the organization.
- Leads and champions cross functional work teams to identify, develop, improve, and implement standards, policies and procedures to support Sonesta’s overall objectives.
- Ensures all hotels are meeting/exceeding employee engagement and guest satisfaction goals.
- Lead the annual development of the Operating Budget and Capex Budget for Full Service hotels.
- Works closely with Corporate operational leaders to ensure new programs, products, and services are being developed to drive performance while not overwhelming hotel operations.
- Acts as a senior leader within the company, providing mentorship and development to Regional Operations leaders, General Managers and Executive Committee leaders, and helps drive Sonesta policies, procedures and direction.
- Have the ability to interact at all levels of the organization – including General Managers; Hotel teams, Corporate Senior Leadership; Ownership; Regional teams, and Corporate support departments.
- The primary areas of focus would include Revenue generation, Rooms Operations; Food and Beverage; Spa/Fitness; Procurement, Information Technology (IT) Loss Prevention/Security; Engineering, and other ancillary departments. Working closely with the Hotel teams, Regional teams, and Corporate teams to drive performance across these areas.
- Drive, model, and support the Sonesta culture, helping to position Sonesta as a premier hospitality organization and a place where guests want to stay, employees want to work, and owners want to partner with.
- Be the leader and “go to” person with owners/asset managers for the portfolio of Full Service hotels. Sharing successes, opportunities, and operating results on a regular basis.
- Hold hotel team accountable for performance, results and follow up.
- Accountable for Full Profit and Loss (P&L) for all Sonesta managed, Full Service hotels; including proactively leading and supporting properties to deliver on goals and desired results with respect to topline revenue, market share, profitability, EBITDA, labor management, and operating efficiencies.
- Ensures brand, operating and product standards are in place.
- Partner with the training discipline to identify operational training needs to support best-in-class and consistent guest experience delivery; and improving operating efficiencies.
- Develops the annual strategic plan and goals for the Full Service hotels
Financial Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversight and responsibility for the following key metrics and results for individual hotels:
- Provide accurate and timely financial reporting and critiques for Corporate and owner/asset management teams.
- Drive accountability for forecast accuracy
- Ensure hotels are efficiency and effectively managing labor.
- Manage hotel to budgeted labor and expense KPIs
- Achieve flow-through and flex targets
- Ensure hotels are meeting budgeted and forecasted financial goals.
People Management Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Accountable for overall employee engagement and retention
- Leading and driving the Sonesta culture.
- Grow and develop talent in order to create an internal pipeline for key positions.
- Attract, retain, and inspire the best talent.
- Leadership of the Full Service above property, regional teams
- Leadership, accountability, and oversight for the following areas across all hotels:
- Attract, retain, and inspire the best talent.

- Leading and driving the Sonesta culture.
- Accountable for overall employee engagement and retention
Additional
A candidate for this position must possess the following applicable knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to demonstrate and provide applicable examples to support their competencies therein.
- Strong P&L experience and proficient at statistical and competitive analysis
- Prior Corporate experience is a plus
- Experience with Full-Service Hotels – Rooms and Food and Beverage
- Excellent organization skills
- Multi-unit responsibilities within the hospitality industry
- Ability to work and build relationships with individuals within different levels of the organization from the senior executive leadership to the front line employees
- Excellent communicator and the ability to deliver presentations in a concise, well-organized manner
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience)
- Ability and willingness to travel
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
- 7 plus years as a General Manager of a hotel (or equivalent)
