Position Summary & Responsibilities:
Position Summary:
This position is responsible for supervising the effective delivery of services to residents in the assigned housing unit(s) and to ensure that the overall unit is maintained in a safe, secure, and humane manner. The Unit Team Manager is expected to ensure that Internal Management Policy and Procedure, Facility General Orders, Kansas Administrative Regulations, Kansas Statutes Annotated, Custody Classification Manual, and other administrative rules and regulations are followed in the delivery of services. The Unit Team work involves evaluating risk factors in order to make decisions regarding facility/cell or work assignments, referrals to services, and the level/type of supervision, and to develop comprehensive release plans for residents who are within one year of release. The work of this position requires ongoing proactive communications and interaction with staff, residents, community partners, and residents’ family that will ensure an organizational culture that supports the attainment of reduced negative behaviors by residents.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Free from felony convictions and substantiated PREA claims
- Bachelor’s Degree with major coursework in criminal justice, the social sciences or the behavioral sciences, and two (2) years of experience working with residents/offenders in corrections, parole, or law enforcement. Additional experience may be substituted for the required education as determined relevant by the agency.
Approved Substitutions:
- High school diploma or GED and five (5) years of experience in adult/juvenile corrections or case management in a social services.
- Completion of 60 semester hours of coursework from an accredited college or university, including 12 hours in corrections, criminal justice, the social sciences, or the behavioral sciences, and three (3) years of experience in the field of adult/juvenile corrections or case management in a social services, or
- Completion of 30 semester hours of coursework from an accredited college or university, including six (6) hours in corrections, criminal justice, the social sciences, or the behavioral sciences, and four (4) years of experience in the field of adult/juvenile corrections or case management in a social services; or
Preferred Qualifications: (May be used to screen applicants)
- Effective skills in organization and time management, flexible and able to adjust as needed
- Proficient knowledge of and experience with Unit Team functions, to include Good Time, Custodies, and KDOC Policy
- Valid Driver’s License
- Successful experience with the SOK Performance Management Process
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to work effectively and positively with a diverse group of individuals
- Two (2) years of employee supervisory experience
- Good communication, both written and verbal
