ABOUT THE JOB:


KCDC is seeking an experienced Underwriter with affordable housing and/or Low Income Housing Tax Credit experience. This individual will underwrite and evaluate community development focused low income housing tax credit equity investments.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:


  • Maintain and manage strong relationships with existing clients and prospects
  • Prepare investment write-up for consideration by Senior Relationship Managers
  • Obtain and analyze due diligence items including guarantor financials, market study/appraisal, environmental studies, tax credit documentation, financing documents
  • Partner effectively with Credit Officers and Asset Managers in connection with credit decisioning and closing and funding risk mitigation
  • Structure and analyze financial forecasts for Low Income Housing Tax Credit properties
  • Coordinate underwriting and closing process with client, internal partners, third party lenders, counsel, title companies, etc.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field or urban and regional planning; equivalent experience will be considered
  • Experience working in relationship management teams with a proven understanding of the importance of balancing business development and asset quality
  • Ability to function well in a team environment as well as work independently
  • Strong knowledge of tax credit financing and financing of multi-family real estate developments
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize conflicting demands and meet deadlines
  • 3+ years of tax credit investment, financial services, commercial real estate finance, and/or project development related experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Outstanding credit skills, analytical skills and financial acumen
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and accurately in a fast-paced environment
