Associate Underwriter Jobs

HealthPartners is currently hiring for Associate Underwriter. They will be working with increasing independence, evaluate risk on group cases through the use of experience underwriting. This role will develop and maintain an understanding of applicable underwriting rules, techniques, regulations, and other pertinent information. ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Assist in prospective quote process.
• Meet established turnaround goals by balancing conflicting deadlines and competing priorities.
• Assist in the maintenance of tracking databases
• Keep abreast of changes in laws/legislation/competitors.
• Understand Employer Reports in order to prepare renewal ratings for a financially sound result
• Participate in the streamlining of the underwriting process.
• Present risk issues to Management and Senior Underwriters.
• Price fully insured renewal rates complying with authority guidelines and balancing financial and membership goals.
• Prepare detailed benefit alternatives and values using sound judgement (including reasonability testing), while adhering to business policies and benefit filings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• High degree of math aptitude.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Intermediate computer skills using Microsoft Office products or comparable applications.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Finance, Statistics, Economics, Business or similar field.
• Detail oriented.
