Background
- Oversee the planning and delivery of corporate Generation Equality events and milestones in line with the Project Document.
- Ensure effective information flow, communication and coordination between office and other units/teams across the organization with responsibility for delivering Project Document results to ensure implementation of activities and expenditure of financial resources are on track and in line with Project Document;
- Lead the preparation and implementation of annual results-based work plans and frameworks for the Generation Equality Phase II Project Document in compliance with UN Women policies and procedures;
- Lead and coordinate timely and quality reporting, including donor reporting;
- Develop strategy and planning documents, including project documents, concept notes, grant agreements and related documents to support and guide implementation;
- Ensure that Generation Equality results feed into annual work planning and reporting on UN Women’s Strategic Plan 2022-2025 implementation and results;
- Provide regular updates to UN Women’s leadership and management bodies, including the Project Steering Committee, so they are fully and regularly appraised of progress and approvals/reviews are sought as appropriate;
- Lead robust monitoring and evaluation of activities to measure progress made against expected results;
- Develop, coordinate and provide training on results-based management.
- Gather information and prepare reports on progress of project implementation for internal needs and donors; prepare technical reports;
- Review and recommend project monitoring standards, criteria, and other indicators for measuring and assessing progress/results;
- Lead the monitoring of progress against agreed results frameworks and performance indicators;
- Provide technical support in the preparation of audits and follow up on the implementation of audit recommendations;
- Develop strong working relationships with UN Women HQ, Regional and Country Offices, support regular and effective information exchange between these units/offices;
- Advise on internal coordination mechanisms and processes to support effective information flows and timely decision-making;
- Support localization of the Project Document and its implementation across UN Women Regional and Country Offices;
- Foster coordination among different parts of UN Women to promote coherence in the implementation of Generation Equality Phase II Project Document;
- In coordination with relevant units, support efforts to communicate proactively and regularly to all relevant stakeholders.
- Monitor the Phase II Project Document financial situation to ensure adherence to delivery rates and utilization of resources to meet agreed upon targets and results;
- Ensure effective information flow, communication and coordination between offices.
- Manage a team within the Coordination Hub, perform staff performance reviews, ensure capacity development of staff members by suggesting development opportunities;
- Support and foster a team spirit across all teams working on Generation Equality within UN Women;
- Lead the process of identifying and synthesizing of best practices and lessons learned that are directly linked to the implementation of the project and contribute to their global dissemination.
- Activities are implemented in line with Phase II Project Document and Annual Work plans
- Teams adhere to UN Women’s Rules, Regulations, policies and procedures, using a results-based management approach
- Regular dissemination and sharing of information, including best practices/ lessons learned

- Master’s degree (or equivalent) in social sciences, political science, international relations, business administration or management, public administration, or other related fields; or a first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience;
- A project/programme management certification would be an asset.
- Experience in leading teams effectively;
- Experience working on gender equality and women’s empowerment;
- At least 7 years of progressively responsible experience in project management, including project design, project coordination, monitoring and evaluation, donor reporting and capacity building;
- Experience in or with the United Nations system is an asset.
- Experience in setting priorities, budgets, work plans, participating in programme development and programme writing;
- Working knowledge of another UN official working language is an asset.
- Fluency in English is required;
