Purpose/Introduction


The Turnaround Safety Execution Specialist is responsible and accountable for ensuring all execution elements of a turnaround event meet or exceed CPChem safety expectations. This role works closely with site safety, Corporate OESH, and turnaround leadership to develop integrated execution safety plans for each turnaround. The role also provides real time coaching during an event to our company employees and our contracting partners. This coaching is focused on human performance at all stages during an event. The role will be the liaison between our contracting partners and the execution team. They will work closely with corporate safety to ensure our partners work in accordance with CPChem’s safety standards. This role will also have a dual function to work with the turnaround regional managers to support execution of events in a region, when required. They will work as coaches to our execution team, ensuring we are aligned with our contracting partners on the goals and desired outcomes of our turnaround events. This role also works closely with the corporate turnaround manager to develop company turnaround safety and execution strategies that align with company goals and business needs. This role will office out of The Woodlands. Texas


Responsibilities


  • Collaborate with Corporate OESH and site EHSS personnel to leverage knowledge and resources from throughout Company; participate on the company Safety & Health Best Practices Team.
  • Works with Corporate OESH, site safety leadership and selected contractors to develop a training program for all workers assigned to the turnaround. This training program will align with all corporate requirements and will be consistent from site to site.
  • Work closely with the site on developing and executing the auditing strategy in compliance with EHS-5180.
  • Responsible for working with sites on deployment of reinforced based leadership program (RBL).
  • Responsible for successful communication, training, and execution of applicable site safety procedures during an event.
  • Provide standardized implementation of safety requirements at each site, ensuring compliance with relevant Company OE System requirements, Global OE Procedures, and Safety & Health Best Practices. This includes but is not limited to: Safety plan development, event safety metrics, toolbox safety meeting development, daily event safety messaging, safety coaching and focal point for contractors during the event.
  • Responsible for management of incident reporting during the execution phase of a Turnaround.
  • Provide input on matters related to safety and health programs and performance to Global Procurement and Corporate OESH in the evaluation of Turnaround Contractors during qualification, selection, and management of contractor companies.
  • Liaison with local site safety and event turnaround contractors.
  • Work with Corporate OESH to develop a Safety Coaching/Reinforcement Based Leadership Plan for all site turnarounds.
  • Responsible to assure auditing through safety coaches as well as Leadership walk throughs.
  • Participate in the investigation of turnaround project injuries/illnesses and other EHSS-related incidents; assist Contractor Safety Professionals in the management and analyses of injuries/illnesses and other types of incidents, including near misses, as necessary.
  • Role is the flywheel for the execution coverage and would be responsible for any assigned execution responsibilities.


Required Qualifications


  • Minimum of 5 years of turnaround experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of field manufacturing experience
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Minimum of 10 years in a field supervision
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrated coaching skills – toolbox safety meeting, field auditing and reporting
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Working knowledge of behavioral safety
  • Expert working knowledge of industry safety standards


Preferred Qualifications


  • Progressive levels of field supervision
  • Travel up to 50% of time to support TA events at the sites during execution window
  • Training in Reinforcement Based Leadership (RBL) safety practices
  • Experience in communicating with large groups
  • Turnaround planning and scheduling experience
  • Certified Safety Professional
