SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Senior Safety Manager, assists in implementation of the day-to-day operations of the Grady Health System General Safety and Fire Safety programs. This position involves the interpretation and application of applicable codes, regulations, and standards. Must be able to interpret regulations, define and evaluate problems, collect data, draw conclusions, write reports, and implement corrective action plans.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reporting changes or trends for facility and safety related issues
- Manages and performs hazard surveillance tours and proactive risk assessments to identify environmental deficiencies and unsafe practices throughout the organization
- Coordinates the timely submission of the hazard surveillance data to the appropriate internal departments
- Other duties as assigned
- Reporting sensitive data to all levels of leadership represented on the multidisciplinary Environment of Care Committee
- Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to develop and execute effective training programs to meet the needs of the organization relating to General Safety, Fire Prevention and Hazardous Materials
- Serves as liaison between the Safety Department and the Third-Party Administrator of the Worker's Compensation Program
- Leads the development and implementation of policies and procedures
- Generates queries and reports of Environment of Care trends
- Ensures accidents/incidents are properly reported, and ensures recommendations for corrective action for all contributory factors
- Provide quarterly updates on annual reports on safety/fire safety, accident/incident analysis, training, inspections, drills, performance improvement plan updates
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in Safety, Risk Management, Industrial Hygiene, or Science
In lieu of a degree a minimum of three years relevant experience required
A minimum of 2-3 years of hospital or general industry safety or risk management experience is required
Certified Healthcare Safety Professional or OSHA 30-Hour Training required or achieved within 6 months of hire
Preferred: Previous experience in compliance inspections or healthcare accreditation
Preferred: Previous experience coordinating worker's compensation field investigations and promptly responding to requests and inquiries
