Job Description

Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Training Specialist to join our dynamic utility company. As a Training Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the skills and knowledge of our employees, ensuring they are equipped to excel in their roles within the utility industry. Your primary focus will be on designing, developing, and delivering comprehensive training programs that cover technical, operational, safety, and customer service aspects.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with department managers and team leads to provide ongoing coaching and support to employees, reinforcing learning outcomes and addressing performance gaps.
  • Organize and lead training sessions, workshops, and webinars, both in-person and virtually, ensuring high levels of engagement and knowledge retention among participants.
  • Stay updated on regulatory compliance and safety guidelines relevant to the utility industry, and integrate these aspects into training materials to promote a culture of safety and compliance.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the quality and effectiveness of training materials and delivery methods, staying up-to-date with industry trends and best practices.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to identify training needs, develop learning objectives, and design effective training programs that align with the company's goals and industry standards.
  • Maintain strong relationships with external training partners, vendors, and industry organizations to leverage additional resources and expertise when needed.
  • Conduct thorough training needs assessments to identify knowledge gaps and tailor training content to different employee levels and roles.
  • Develop and maintain training documentation, records, and reports, ensuring accurate tracking of training progress and completion.
  • Monitor training program effectiveness through assessments, evaluations, and feedback mechanisms, and make necessary adjustments to meet changing requirements.
  • Develop engaging and interactive training materials, including presentations, e-learning modules, videos, manuals, and other resources, utilizing various formats and technologies.

Qualifications:

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Strong understanding of utility operations, technical processes, safety protocols, and customer service practices.
  • Familiarity with adult learning principles and training evaluation techniques.
  • Proven experience as a Training Specialist or similar role within the utility industry or a related field.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple training projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in learning management systems (LMS) and other training software tools.
  • Proficiency in using various training delivery methods, including classroom instruction, e-learning platforms, virtual training tools, and multimedia resources.
  • Excellent instructional design skills, including the ability to create engaging and effective training materials for different learning styles.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and adapt to changing business needs.
  • Relevant certifications in training, instructional design, or utility industry-specific training (e.g., NERC certification) are a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Training & Development, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
